The day started out sunny, I painted a little, and then it poured. It alternated sun and rain all day. I painted each time the sun came out.

Yeah, I had the same issue with a LGB Mogul I picked up on the used market here. The brass bus bar had been reinserted upside down for some reason! I flipped it, tweaked it, and she is now the pride of the fleet. The m2071, however, bedevils me...

The way this RhB is set up,the brass busses touch the casings for the wheel pick up springs, and they just needed a little " English", or slight bending to make better contact. If I have any more trouble, I'll solder in a jumper. LGB products are usually of the highest quality, and trouble free, for the most part. They are usually rock solid.

Great progress, Paul!

With respect to the RhB loco, was it one of the spring loaded brushes that go from the wheel flange to the inner bus? My m2071 suffered from that...before it suffered from everything else!

With each layer of paint, I get a little closer to what I'm trying to convey...

The rain let up long enough to get in a little painting.

It's been rain ing, so doing some loco repairs. The RhB engine was only picking up from 3 points.

Thank you ! I realized yesterday that my mountains are somewhat generic. It could just as easily be Colorado, or the Canadian Rockies, for that matter.

Just as well...

I've got a lot of Colorado stuff....

Those murals go a long, long way towards anchoring your railroad in place! Clearly, it serves the communities of Wiesieheissenberg and Gibtsnichtstal!

Thanks guys !! Just having fun here !!!

Eric, you're always a source of great ideas !! Actually, I had considered extending the rack to the wall, I still have about 9 more feet of rack material. But, it's easier to paint this with better access, so need to finish the wall first. But, I probably will continue the rack line a little further.

Paul

the pseudo mountain and station is a great idea, I had not thought of that !

Paul,

The background is already bringing this to life by setting the railroad in place. Before you get too far, though, and start to force your perspective too much, what if youextend your elevated rack line to one of your walls?  You could build up some "mountain" just to that point, put in your alpine station, and dead-end the viaduct in a false tunnel portal.  It would minimize your rock  buy and increase the impression your railroad goes somewhere.

This is all really cool, by the way.

Eric

P.S.  Busy day here as well...pruning, repairing structures, leveling tracks, repairing a truck on a wobbly car, helping Oldest Daughter prep her own project... you name it!
