The April 2012 issue of GR provided some plans for a bucket coaling station. This building was based on an actual prototype and was covered in June 1955 Model Railroader.
I had built a FineScale Miniature kit based on this building back when I was doing HO. I've always meant to make one like it for outside and finally got inspired enough to get started.
It's built from individual cedar boards on a cedar frame. The crane is made from cedar, with some styrene plates, and a few gears from Plastruct. The buckets are from an acrylic tube cut to length with styrene strips and brass handles added. A corrugated metal roof finishes it off.
