2010 Nevada trip -- good reference pics for modelers!
Posted by Ray Dunakin on Monday, August 16, 2010 9:29 PM
Well, it took nearly two weeks but I finally got all my photos and video sorted, captioned, filed and posted on my website along with a brief account of my annual Nevada camping trip! It starts here: http://www.raydunakin.com/Site/Nevada_Trip_2010_Part_One.html I saw steam trains at Ely, and railroad artifacts at several other sites. There are plenty of pics of mines, old buildings, machinery and vehicles that will be of interest to scratch-builders, or anyone who like cool old stuff. I also saw quite a lot of wildlife and have a few pics and video of them too. Enjoy!

Ray - I'm really surprised there have been so few replies to your sharing of some great travel photographs (I noticed you posted on a couple of other sites too with similar results). Maybe everyone is out on vacation busily trying to compile something as interesting and informative as you did. It must have been a fun trip and from looking at your photos, a goodly variety of things to see and it looks like you put in quite a bit of effort to even find or get to some of these places. I admire your ability to know that some snakes you can safely handle and for your including some wildlife shots with all the scenery and mechanical ones. I know I am a rare (very) poster to this message board and I don't wish to offend anyone but it seems to me other members should note that it takes work to compile a trip like this for us to view and enjoy and if we don't come up with a couple of "nice work!" comments, it's less likely the effort to share will be made again for us. Thanks Tom! It does take an amazing amount of work to put all these reference photos into an organized, easily accessible format online. But if it provides modeling inspiration to anyone at all, I feel it's worth it. Also, so many of these historic old sites are being lost forever due to the ravages of time, vandalism, wildfires, and other factors, that I feel compelled to document them for posterity.

Ray, fabulous photo set. Thanks for sharing. Been a bit busy of late with the hospice thing and moving the in-laws into a full care living facility. Have had no time to enjoy the hobby, but your pic’s and vid’s have been a great release for me. Thanks.

I just found out there's a broken link on the first page of my Nevada trip report. Instead of taking you to part two of the 2010 trip, it takes you part two of last year's trip. I've fixed the link on the page. Here's the correct link to Part Two of my 2010 trip: http://www.raydunakin.com/Site/Nevada_Trip_2010_Part_Two.html Sorry for the confusion!
