 Hello everyone,

I just wanted to say how helpful this forum has been for us.  My son got a G scale train and track from his older cousin.  We found this forum when we were looking for a way to add a smoke unit to his LGB 2020 Loco.   Piercedan and MRH044's responses to Dan In Chester about a replacement stack gave us the part info and disassembly instructions.  After we got the unit I wrote PierceDan and he immediately sent the image files for the parts list and instructions, along with some helpful advice. Thanks again, Dan!

We are very impressed with the high quality of the information on this forum and especially with the friendly and respectful tone of the exchanges here.  So often on Internet discussions, you don't see the better side of human nature.  Here, you see the best!

We are very glad to "Come Aboard" to this community!.

Just a follow up.

Alexander installed the smoke unit (mostly by himself), and he is very, very happy.  I actually had to step up to the plate and figure out how to fashion a contact switch.  I had to become handy for once, took out my trusty Dremel and cut a flat band of brass strip into a switch (many thanks to HobbyTown in Fremont for the advice).  It's a nice feeling when your son looks at you and still thinks you can fix anything.

As for me, I had a great time watching Alexander learning to weld and sorting out the wiring.  Kids can really impress you if you let them.  Model railroading has been very good to me, giving me opportunities to do things together with my son.  The years go by swiftly, but I have more memories to treasure because of this experience.  Again, thanks to the members of this forum for the generosity of spirit you have shown.  Alexander has had to overcome learning challenges as he has grown, and he has taught me to take life's victories wherever you find them.  I appreciate the contributions you have made to his journey, and to mine.

Jose, I too get a lot of good info here.  Sometimes some who have been here a while and seem to know each other (although we have never met) will get offtrack with some friendly banter.   Over a period of years I have only known a few instances of nastiness, and members quickly let the originators know that they are out of line!

Rene also does a good job of keeping our toes to the mark!   She's really a good egg!

Just keep reading and asking, someday you will also be contributing!

It's nice to have you as a member. This large scale bunch is the nicest crowd you'll ever wanna run into. Their always ready to help. It's kinda a refreshing change from some other forums that act like they got cliques everywhere. Heck, even some of the GR staff posts regularly like we actually might mean a little somethin around here. A little. LOL

It is enough that Jesus died and that he died for me.
