Blizzard of 2008
Posted by sfcgadget on Sunday, December 21, 2008 2:33 PM

December's blizzard started early in the morning and by the time the folks went to bed, the snow was already several feet deep. But when they awoke the next morning, the drifts were up to the second floor windows and telephone poles were disappearing. The track crew can't even get out of the yard office, never mind find their plow. If you don't live in a 2 story house, Santa might not find your chimney!

Nice pictures, we like the first one. Out here in the Sierra Nevada we got 6" of snow on Monday. Thursday we had 60-70 mph winds and blowing snow. Friday the snow was gone and we wondered where it went. Now we know.

Good luck, Rob and Patricia

Nice shots.  In the last few days we got over a foot of snow.  My entire layout is burried.  I cant even see the water tower.

Here, about 2 1/2 miles in from Lake Ontario, we got 15 1/2" and it's snowing again tonight. Heavy, wet 'heart attack' snow. Can't even see the landscaping on my railroad, let alone the tracks!!

Here in Charlotte everytime they close the city for 3 days because it snowed, I have to keep telling my neighbors that where I come from "THIS" is called "Partly Cloudy". (Upstate New York)

Locals here don't know what heart attack snow is.  If you are south or east of Lake Ontario I can add that they have never even heard of lake effect snow.  They also don't know what a snow blower is.  One asked my wife if it was something like a leaf blower.
