I have to admit I don't get the point of this post. I'm not being critical, just uninformed. I don't know where or how to do a profile. I've said several times that I live at the confluence of the Missouri & Mississippi rivers; the MO is about a mile north of me and the Big Miss is about five to the east as the crow flies. I sign with my first name though I have a username.

Are y'all saying there are people posting under ficticious names? Why on earth for? I've found that a post in the mainstream gets me all the info that's likely out there, within reason.

Sorry, I just don't get it. (Just like real life Tongue [:P])

Sorry if we were being a little obtuse, Les. We are referring to the world's longest train thread. It looks like the original poster is creating new screen names saying what a great idea it is, trying to drum up interest. If you look at the number of posts under the newly made up screen names, they all say "1". Also, there is no personal info for any of them.

You can update your own profile up at the top where it says - Update Profile (or click on that!)

Good point, I know MLS has upgraded with photos on the side. I love it. Now I can go to a show and look for people. And not get confused by this dumb sig name, etc. Yes I would have used my real name way back if I had known now what,,,if I had known then what I know ,,,now.??? Is that right???

I already had my location, but I narrowed it down. Hell, I'm in the book. I've never worried about anybody coming to find me cause I ain't a small fella and we got plenty of weapons out here. By the way, how bout a link to this whacky thread you're talkin about?

Thanks guys, I fell so much better hearing reading this posting, thought I was going nuts looking at all those comments and yet the margin was showing "Posts 0".  It was ovious to an old putz like me that it was all from a singe individual.

Now, they're even talking back with their own fictitious screen names. When will the insanity end! Banged Head [banghead]

I very much agree, but for a different reason.  Many questions will have answers that are temperd by geographic considerations.   What might work well in Florida may not work in the frozen tundra, a product here in USA will probably have a different name in Switzerland, and don't forget that electricity is different in europe than here!

I also agree with Ralph, your writing personality will eventually show through.  Mine is peppered with English Spellings due to having spent so much time here in the colonies driving ships that flew old blood and guts!  Spell checquer sometimes helps with that!

This thread caused me to look at the location mentioned in my profile.  So I realized* that the original (South Western England) covered a pretty large area (for the UK anyway) so I decided to review it and post a more specific area.  Anyone who is familiar with UK Heritage Railways might recognize* the avatar location.

* The older version using the letter z is posted here for Ralphs benefit.

PS:  Golly Ralph, Crich with all those wonderful tramcars.  I visted there some years ago.  I should go again before its too late.

Well I have just checked my profile on this forum and it is pretty much the same information as I have always entered.

I like in the Peak District of Derbyshire not far from the village of Winster. I moved here in 2006 and previously -I lived near Crich.

I have found the one thing that gives away multiple copies of the same individual is just that -the style of the post is exactly alike. Some people have noticed I use "Legal English", in that the last clause of a sentence begins with a dash, I start a list with a semi colon; I tend to capitalise Nouns (this comes from living and speaking German on a day to day basis!) there are other traits like the multiple !!! and ??? and the (!) or (?) that I pepper my sentences with. I also use archaic English spellings -due to my colonial upbringing; curriculumn, column, vacuumn or daemons and aengels.

Do I hide -how can I???

ralph

Problem is, anyone using a fake screen name can also use a fake location.

I saw that too Dave. Its kind of pathetic that they feel the need to make up new fake screen names to post fake praise and keep the thread up top. Why not just give us updates on the project or engage us in conversation? This behavior smacks of just trying to get some free advertising in.

I agree, I dont bump any of my posts unless I have an update or to directly respond to someones question/comment I mean it sucks when nobody responds but maybe its just not all that interesting? Its not like the Garden Railways section is busy either... I spend hours at work reading old posts on these forums trying to get new idea's its not like other people dont do this or the post will get deleted if nobody responds lol yeah just my My 2 cents [2c]

I would like ask all of you to add a real location to your profile..SoapBox [soapbox] In the past week or so I have read input's to a singel post that all sound like same person using differant sign-on names. I fell if you respond to a post don't hide we will not come looking for you.
