Well amigos, Nicholas Smith Trains have not returned my faxed message, so I guess that they do not want to deal ! I will e-mail TF& WL privately to further this little matter. Thanks for your assistance fellas. I appreciate it!
Geoff
If you tried today (3-sep-07), you wouldn't get an answer as it is Labor Day, which is a national holiday here in the US. They will be open tomorrow.
Captain Stryker
You read my mind....it's a holiday here in US. lol
Geoff I will call in the AM when there open and ask if they got your fax.
As for emails from GR forum I have sent you several so send me another with your email address on it or check your spam box. I have been getting yours.
Me and John B. from Oz had a heck of a time with emails...... I have a new ISP now and see if it works to Oz Land now.
Hope this makes since, brain not working today
William
I love it when a plan comes together !
Much gratitude to TF&WL, CPT Stryker and all who have waded in on this one. In touch by private e-mail with the proprietor of TF&WL who is one heck of an operator. Rack loco has begun the journey from PA to WA !
Reminds me a bit of the saga involved in getting a couple of NG steam locos from South Africa to Fremantle some 20 years ago........ah, its all great fun....only they were 1' to the foot....with wheels just 2' apart. Today's logistics are just a little less complicated...
Not a problem, some times things need a push to get started down the rails!!
CPT. you did a great job finding it and giving me blind directions which the lady there was susprized I knew anything about there shop, plus a note it was not in inventory at the computer! "She would have to look for it" CPT. again you did a great job!
And just think I could have bought a LGB track cleaner engine
No problem at all, glad I could be of assistance !
Now if they only had some blue & white Schöllenbahn passenger cars sitting around that are not in their computer system. I think my next train that I am going to save up for is going to be a Glacier Express. I will more than likely sell one of my LCE sets to help pay for it, or, I can just hit the lottery. Man, what a collection of trains I would have then ! I could get a few of the trains made by Scheba http://www.schurer-online.de/ Ah yes, one can dream !
Geoff,
Your train will be there on or about the 9/17/07!!!!! Happy Days
Toad in da Swamp
Has it arrived yet ?
Capt. Here is the break down of shippment.
It was delivered 17-SEP-07 2:50 AM your time as Geoff is 13 hours ahead of you.
Geoff, you out there ????
He is in NZ and will be back the 23rd.
Toad
Thanks William, I'll just sit back and run some trains until then.
I want some pictures!!!!!
Fellas, this world is not such a bad place...I arrived home from 2 weeks vacation in New Zealand 7.30pm Sunday night (last evening here) and fronted the office at 9 this morning, (MY BIRTHDAY- you'd reckon they'd give you a day off....), and what was sitting on my desk ? You Guessed - a beautiful red LGB Electric Rack loco......MANY thanks to Toad Frog & White Lightning, who, not knowing me from Adam, has incredibly obtained the desired loco on my behalf, had it sent to TX where the famous TF&WL is located and relayed it via USPS air parcel to me here in far off Oz. I am blown away. Many thanks William, and to Stryker (G'day CPT) and all GRF members who took the time to help me out on this one, a heartfelt 'Thank You'.
I owe you a photo of the loco workin' on the railroad, and in due course, I will do that.
Arranging Tx of funds William, and once again, many thanks. Above & Beyond, WP !
G'day Cobber and Happy Birthday (Raising a slab of tinnies in your direction)
Glad I could help ! It's amazing how folks in this hobby will go out of their way to help a perfect stranger with none of the "What's in it for me" attitude.
Hmmm, these's a lesson here... If we were to ship model trains to the Middle East instead of guns and troops, then maybe we could get them on the same level as the rest of us in this hobby. I can hear the president or the prime minister (whichever applies in all of our countries),
Aide: Sir we have a hot spot !
Pres or PM: Quick, send the trains !
Or, a G-scale summit.
Any photos yet ??? We are dying to see your setup !
Yes, they are fully functioning rack locomotives. LGB has rack segments that clip onto the track sections.

Man, that rocks. I might have to do a section of rack railroad.
Yeah buddy, photos......I am ready!!!!!
No problem mate ! I guess we were chompin' at the bit to see the end results of the Multi-National Rack Loco Task Force.
This weekend, I am going to Nicholas Smith Trains to buy a Lionel trainset for my new nephew Cole who was born last Friday. Start 'em off early !
Congratulations Capt !! I too have an engineer in waiting- Ollie Keryakios, my new Grandson, born just 3 weeks ago, my first grandson, my second grandchild. And hey ! I got some time and bought a trailer and a half of sub-road and I've actually laid half of it this weekend. Not much to see yet, but the crew are readying the construction train with ballast gons and a hired diesel to shove 'em round, so photo opportunities will be very close ! Good job the engineering department signalled the gradient situation and recommended the rack section. Sure is a great rack location. No way adhesion would cut it. (You might detect that I'm on a 'G scale high' at the moment !) I'll keep you all posted.......
Give me anothewr week Toad...I'll have some for you.
G'day Toad, Capt Stryker and all who have taken an interest in this thread ! Sorry I haven't been active on the Forum for a few weeks.....well I'm not sorry actually...I've been workin' on the railroad...and just luvin' it . We have daylight saving here at the moment and coupled with a few free Saturdays and Sunday afternoons..I've made famous progress ! I have actually laid in the sub-road, laid track, ballasted with the crusher fines seived out of the sub-road mix, wired up the rails, hooked up my Train Engineer wireless controller and RUN TRAINS !! It ain't finished yet, but I've made great progress, and just loved doing it. The chief engineers wife even came home yesterday with a dwarf plant from the nursery !! It's become a family affair !! Photos ? Well, I've worked till dark whenever I could and there hasn't been a 'photo oportunity' but I will post some soon. I have run the rack loco tonight and it is great..lights up like a Christmas Tree and rumbles along like some old man. Fantastic ! I have used Aristocraft track, and the screw connection between track pieces gave me instant power across the layout first time perfect. Some track has been in storage since my first GR was pulled up some 7 years ago and with the residue ballast clinging on and brass tarnishing, I thought I might be in for trouble. No problem at all. I even managed to pick up the rack sections and associated clips on e-bay a couple of days ago, so when that arrives, we're climbin' hills............
I'll keep you posted.
Geoff.
