When my husband was just a kid, he tells me he tried to "weather" this heavy, 6lb. engine he had as a part of his set. He painted it all black. Now, he is looking to part with it and has put me in charge of finding it a new home. Because he painted it, there are no numbers on this engine or tender, not even numbers raised through the paint to distinguish what this model is.
I have viewed pictures of the two and perhaps my eyes aren't sharp enough to know what to look for. I do have a Pat. No. on the engine to go by which appears on a shiny metal plate on the bottom or I have a PA number appearing on the tender, this is a raised number begining with the letters PA just under a wheel section on the tender.
If you own either one of these engines, could you please let me know the engine you have, and any numbers you find on the bottom of yours.

The patent numbers may not give you the info you wanted because the patent was not engine specific as much as componet specific. If you would post some pictures that would help. Inside the cab there is usually a date stamped, that would narrow the year made.
