I didnt mean anything bad zeke, i was just surprised a basement can be 50ft. x 40ft. I thought you was saying it was so big because you was in awe of the layout and was exaggerating about its size. i didnt think it was a lie, just a little exaggerating. Sorry about that zeke.

of course i didnt have a tape measure so if its 45 ft please dont send out a lynch mob...

just so you all know my first thoughts were of you all here. I will write everything down i can about them and to the best of my abillity. I called him earlier tonight to see about going over there this weekend and doing this and he said he was fine with that and i told him about all of you and he said sounds great. he didnt know about this forum. he said he would like to see them go to people who had a passion for them and i told him tthat this was the place for that!
he has a three or four think he said lionel f3 sante fe's..i have seen a beautiful pic of them on here, just dont know who had them. they are huge and heavy...he has 2 nib a assume its a a and b unit. i think thats how that works. he has two runners he said i thought they were real nice they dont show any wear.....
his post war engines are amazing there are 4 that must have 15- 20 wheels on them and huge...
but of course i will try to hook you guys up. like i said hes just trying to get them to people who would appreciate them.....
i just got off the phone with him and we are shooting for this weekend. I have so much stuf going on between dr appts and physical therapy to fixing the brakes on my truck. We are also going to sacaremento this weekend in the mustang. I took it over there yesterday and he was in love, said he had on back in the day just like it always loved having the top down. (except the time he said he got caught in a monsoon, story for another day he said,lol ) So i thought why not take it down there its a 4 hr round trip so he should love that.
dusting will take place to. is there anything special i should use or not use when dusting. Its been there 10 yrs...
Zeke, when are you going to dust his layout to take some pictures? You said earlier in a post he would let you if you cleaned it up. I would, and I know many others would love to see his layout.

about 10 post war locos...2036, 2025, and numerous others but these are extremely like new condition.
that and a bucnh of accesories....he has doubles of everything he said..i believe him cuz all thats down there is shelf apon shelf of trains.
Zeke: I have to admit, when I first read your 'Subject Line', I was taken aback by the word "hate". Having been proud to serve as a member of the "Queen Of Battle", I have long-since ceased to use it in civilian life. But, like they say, that is another story.

In time you will learn on your layout that it is better to run a 42 inch curve than a 31 or 27 inch curve. I have 27 inch curves on the inside track and 42 inch or 54 inch curves on the outside track of my layout. If you have to run 72 inch curves than it is too large for my layout!
Usually I don't find train deals at a yard sale, model race cars but seldom model trains. Bought an H.O. race car set for $20.00 and sold it for $180.00 on ebay, however that was a one time deal.

He was looking for a person like you that would not take advantage of him and enjoy what he could not anymore. This last winter a guy gave me a big Case 448 garden tractor with wheel weights, chains, 3pt hitch, sleeve hitch, hydraulic PTO, tiller, snowblower, snow blade, 1 bottom plow and 44" mower deck. Tractor has high hours and needs a hydraulic hose fixed, but am I complaining,,,,, NOOOOOO. Value of all of this stuff is $1500-$2000.
Around the year 2000 a friend of mine came upon a 68 Shelby GT500 sitting in an older ladys driveway with sign in the windshield saying "car not for sale". 2nd visit to the house she answered the door. And said the Shelby is not for sale. He wanted to ask questions and got her to sit down and visit with him. He has a gift for talking to people and after a while she said I think its time to sell the Shelby. My friend ended up buying it for $2000. Another guy had offered her $9000 cash before he picked it up but my friend still got it. At that time it was worth just under $10,000. She had had lots of people stop to ask about it. Two guys even got into a fistfight in her driveway and they ended up getting hauled away by the cops. If he did nothing to that Shelby it would be worth I'm guessing $70,000 or more right now.

Well, you'll have to cut the straight track back a little to make room for the larger curves; but the rails will match perfectly. If you go with O42, be sure you get the O27-profile track, not the O31 profile.
For a 90-degree corner, you will have to cut the straight track back 3 1/4 inches at each end of the curve for O34, 7 3/4 inches for (K-Line) O42.
For a 45-degree corner, cut the straight track back 1 3/8 inches at each end of the curve for O34, 3 1/4 inches for (K-Line) O42.
