736 berkshire circa 1957

I have a near like new 736 berkshire with a busted flagholder on the cowcatcher. It looks like its the round base push in. Short of replacing the original cowcatcher with an original what would be the best thing to do. It looks like I can use a sawed off finishing nail to drive it back out the other way but I don't want to chip the paint. Anyone with an idea?
