Do you suppose the reefer could run on 027 curves?

Folks,

I got my reefer and truck today!Smile [:)]

Great job CTT!

The truck and reefer came in one very secure box that was very carefully packed.

I am extremely pleased with both items.

The truck is very well detailed and decorated, without going overboard on the CTT decorations. It looks very realistic even though its a commemorative piece...same with the reefer...well done!

The reefer is my first Atlas Master Line reefer. I just came up from my CBL after running a nice mixed freight, and the new Atlas car is hands down the most detailed car in the consist. This new Atlas car raises the bar for detail on my layout, and really shows up the lesser detail on most of my other cars.Sad [:(]

I joined the Atlas Golden Spike club a few weeks ago, so I know the new reefer will have a buddy soon. I can easily see collecting a nice consist of these reefers.

Now, I understand Reefer Madness.Evil [}:)]

LOL, no worries about nit-picking, since I'm new to model trains the term "reefer" has a whole different meaning.  Wink [;)]  Not that I would know anything about that.

ATSJer,
Don't know, the layout is still in the planning stages! Wink [;)]  But my plans are to have it parked on a siding in town most of the time.  It will see some time on the tracks though - I don't buy anything to just let it sit.  I'll run it as part of a whatever is connected at the time, I don't discriminate! Wink [;)]

Not to nit-pick, but it is a reefer car, not a boxcar.  Reefers were used to transport ice before the days of refridgeration.  So this will probably find a home along a siding near an Ice House...

Hey Lionroar!

That boxcar looks great!  What a beauty!  What kind of consist do you run that with?  Do you run it in a regular frieght consist or a specialty one?

ATSJer,
Here are a few pics of the Reefer

The detailing on this car is amazing... the pictures do NOT do it justice!

Yes all four hatches open, and they also lock!

They even detailed the ends!

The sidedoors also have locking mechanisms!!!!

Brent

I told you these were great!  Thanks for posting the photos, I have to get the pictures downloaded to the computer.

THEY'VE ARRIVED!!!  THEY'VE ARRIVED!!!

Gotta say CTT these are some very impressive items!  The detail on the reefer is just incredible!  The truck is the same size as the B&O delivery truck I purchased on Saturday...

Mine truck came today. It's very nice but I think it's just a bit on the large size & plus I thought the doors were supposed to open. I must have imagined that !!

OOps !!  It's the reefer that has opening doors, sorry !!

Thanks, John

The truck rolled up here today.  I think it probably needs an oil change though with over 4,000 miles on it.  I noticed on the box it originated in Carson, Ca. (about 6 miles from here), then went to Wis, and back again.

Since it originated here in Calif., at least I don't have to worry about getting it to pass SMOG tests, since it is mandated to come equiped on the trucks here.

Thanks, Brent! I would be disappointed to get it and not be able to run it (Like I've done in the past).

Doug,
If someone doesn't let you know before I get mine I'll measure it and let you know!

Hopefully it arrives today!

Does anyone know or think the reefer would handle 027 curves? I couldn't tell from the photo.

The reefer is scale sized (40 foot).

The delivery truck is 1:50 scale but it looks fine next to nearly all 1:43 cars and trucks.

This may be a dumb question but I am still a newbie. Are these boxcars built to traditional or standard size?
