1957 Lionel "Super O" Layout by Roger Carp
Posted by lionelsuperotrack on Monday, November 20, 2006 2:36 PM

Scanning throught the Classic Toy Trains website I spotted the 1997 article by Roger Carp in pdf file. Without question this is the single best piece I have ever read that discusses "Super O" and the fabulous Lionel showroom layout that was up from 1957 through 1962. It was really the effort to save Lionel as we knew it in the postwar era.

The recreation of this famous layout will be in the CTT coming out in December, 2006 issue. For fans of "Super O" this will be a blast!

I wish the times hadn't changed.

I read the article yesterday and thought it was excellent.

Hello All!  It would be neat to see if anyone has recreated the Prewar T-Rail layout from the late 30's-early 40's. That layout would be a showpiece to look at. Take Care.

The only information I have seen on the "T" rail showroom layout was in a CTT article about a couple of years ago I guess.

Have never heard of anyone recreating it.

November 1998, CTT.  Plans of original show room layout and I believe a recreation are featured/cover story.

Well, that is my opinion too. Just bought a bunch of Super O in MINT shape. Just gorgeous!

The current issue of CTT has a great article featuring a recreation of the Lionel showroom layout in Super O. They also have another article on the Super O track system. It's definetly worth looking at.
