This old Depot has been around for a long time. Not sure where or when I got it, however I painted it and converted it to a small independent oil co.
Thats the Lionel pumper in the background, and of course storage tanks.

Progress on a few projects this week:

Started building a cliffside down the south wall from ceiling tile strips.





Built a five story addition to the building on the left of the corner:



Rewired the corner lighting so I could close up the area under the trestles and add a hillside:





Built the framework for a new industrial building next to the factory:

The Easter Express made it's appointed rounds, much to the delight of all the chocoholics who visited on friday.

The Savage of Hound River Canyon

Spent the weekend gardening instead of laying track, to take advantage of the nice weather. About halfway done with an 8 foot long girder bridge made from a stop sign post (no, I didn’t do what you’re thinking). You can see the girder supports drying (HO brass rails). Used GE Silicon II for doors and window trim. The outside metal around the stop sign is from roofing material and is very inexpensive at HD or Lowe’s.

Also planted a dwarf English boxwood, shown here. Says full sun but ignored the warning and put it in full shade under the deck, as experienced garden railroaders have had good luck with boxwoods and yews in shade.

Also, some of you have asked to see the entire layout so putting some views here of the unfinished mess. The track will be about 35 X 30 feet for phase 1. Phase II will extend as far as the eye can see. You also can see the stop sign crossing the canyon. It’s just there for measurement purposes.

Hound River Canyon got extended down past Peanut Ridge and there’s a functional culvert in place as well that you might be able to make out from the photo. The track of course runs atop Peanut Ridge and then bridges over Beagle Lake.

Well BB the Beagle, the Savage of Hound River Canyon, delayed work with her usual antics. When you see those expressions on her face, you know she’s up to no good. First, she dug up the moss I planted, shown here in the pot.

Then she took off with my gardening glove.

got an email from someone who asked me for my trackplan. Since you can actually see most of the yard (except where the 40 ft long river will go on the other side of the house), you can match up the trackplan with the photos.

Some of the layout, incl. the trainshed/warehouse is under the deck.

Dotted red lines are phase II. Solid red lines are phase I construction.

Black shows rivers, bridges, mountain range, lakes

I may take a period of rest between the 2 phases and make improvements on phase 1.

The two photos shown go side by side, the vertical one on the left side and the horizontal on the right. No track software used. Mountains, rivers, lakes created first, then surveys are conducted for the track; just like the real deal:

Seeing David's pictures of BB. I thought I'd add a photo of my own pooch, Katie the Wonder Dog. Katie will sometimes wander out to the train room to help (ie - small closet in the garage). She'll hang around until I blow the whistle or horn and then she's had enough.

A little Easter humor: During a Sunday school class, the teacher asked her little audience "who knows the meaning of Easter?" David raised his hand and said,"I know. Mary and Joseph went to that stable with all the animals..." "No, that's Christmas", the teacher interupted. Johnny raised his hand,"OOOO-OOOO I know. Easter is a beautiful holiday. It is the rememberence of how Jesus died for our sins." "Class listen up", the teacher delightedly replied." Johnny continued,"Jesus was betrayed by one of his deciples, was sentenced to a cruel punishment by the romans, was nailed to a cross, and was buried in mountainside. And on the third day, if he came out of the hole and saw his hadow, there would be 6 more weeks of winter...."[;)]
