All in all I think it is a pretty good catalog. Lots of cool stuff. Too bad money does not grow on trees. One complaint ...the command standard o steamers are all 0-54 or maybe even larger...not sure. Any way too big for my layout. Maybe I'll go with the coal train. Have to think about it some more.

This is the first time I seen Lionel deal with Nascar. Being a Nascar fan I know What I'll be Waiting for. To bad they did not do Rusty Wallace. I just picked up Percy for my son for his fifth birthday next month. I guess christmas will be james and another expansion set.

Gotta have the #259E Freight Set! My wife wanted us to have a Pre-War style set back when MTH was building the "LIONEL Classics" line in the early 90's, but being newly-weds we couldn't afford it.

But now... she's already given me the green light. And Charlie Ro already has it listed on pre-order for $509!

Some of the PWC cars look good too. And I'm glad that the LionMaster series is continuing, although a SP Cab=Forward will look silly next to my PRR T-1 and NYC J3a.

I've got a spot for that Diner too!

I'm seeing a lot of interest in that 269E set. This is a good thing to see. Who would have thunk it: after 70 years there is still a lot of interest in tinplate-style trains. [:)]

The 269E set is a beauty, but even at Ro's $509 price, out of my reach. The description talks about it having Trainsounds, synchronized chuffing, etc, but doesn't even mention if it smokes.

And since when does Trainsounds include synchronized chuffing?

The price is a bit out of line for an O gauge set, IMO; MTH's Standard gauge RTR sets sell for about the same amount. But, of course, they don't have the Lionel name on them. [;)]

I'm just glad to see Lionel testing the prewar waters again. Now, if they would just introduce a set or two to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Standard gauge in the vol. II catalog...

I too like the 269E Set. I would guess the street price will be much less than the $629.00 listed in the catalog. Probably around Charlie Ro's price? Keep in mind that this was most likely made from new tooling & with the cost of the lawsuits,shipping,& energy cost the price would be more. and you get a set without the rust,scratches,nicks,paint loss,etc,and you get a warrenty,new boxes, & a super looking Train Set to boot. This is how I look at it.

The new 269E set is very nice. No ifs ands or buts. $300-$350 would have been a fair price for that set IMHO.
