Flyer Log Loader compatible with Postwar layout?
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, November 19, 2005 5:42 AM
I have a Christmas layout in my basement with mostly postwar accessories. It has a 364 postwar log loader and an 80's re-make of the sawmill.

I like the look and action of Lionel's new release of the American Flyer #787 Log Loader and the price has come down to something pretty reasonable.

I remember a review in CTT a while back but couldn't find it flipping through a few of the old issues. Do you think it will be compatible with my Lionel Log dump cars?

Thanks!!!

Yes, assuming you mean the Postwar-style log dump cars with stakes. The modern-style dump cars with the spring-loaded cradles don't work with my #364; I don't think they would work with my #787, either.

My #787 isn't installed yet, but I think I'll need to raise it about 1/4" to ensure adequate clearance (Postwar dump car, GarGraves track, 1/4" roadbed).
