Lionel prewar 2201T wiring diagram needed
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, June 12, 2005 12:59 AM
Can anyone tell me how to rewire a Lionel prewar 2201T tender? I don't know a whole lot about it other than it came with a 1663 engine which I did manage to rewire with the help of K-Line's Lionel service book. However it had no reference to the tender. It has a mechanism inside. Some claim it is for reversing the engine while others say it is for a bell. It appears to be a simple solenoid with copper contact on the bottom that apparently gets pulled together with power applied. It is supposed to have 3 wires going to the engine but the cloth coated wire is in shambles & don't have a clue where they were attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If no one here has the answer for you, you might try George Tebolt. His website is www.georgetebolt.com he specializes in prewar and postwar parts. I'm sure he should have that information.

I think this is a link to the right Olsen's data:

"Magic Electrol" was a scheme whereby the whistle relay was used to cycle the e-unit rather than blow a whistle. The relay is what is in the tender. The diagrams are obviously incomplete and not quite right; but maybe you can reconstruct the correct wiring, knowing what it is supposed to do.
