BBQ, Ragweed and Hound

Ragweed, I found, makes excellent trees on your layout. NOW is the time to go out and get some. Hang upsidedown with clothespin. Spray with glue, let cure 3 weeks. You can paint the truck brown and it makes a convincing tree.

After making your tree, treat yourself to some BBQ. Here's an attempt I did over the weekend. The faithful guarddog hound, BB, is guarding the grill against intruders and tidying up the area for accidental meat spills.

She also cleans the dishes.

She occasionally does corn on cob from the grill; but if no red meat is forthcoming, she finds something to ravage; in this case, a small child's beach ball that landed in her yard.

David, David, David a guy from south Gloversville should know better. That's not BBQ, BBQ is slow roasted pork w/ sauce, what you did is a nice grilled meal. Take it from a guy from north Amsterdam.

I can recognize ragweed, or at least my nose can. But what is sedum that a lot of people are starting to use?

Finally, a great looking pup, but I wi***hat she would lay off the rabbits. It's very disturbing to our rabbit Mickey.

BBQ never has, and never will be dependant upon sauce. Nothing is better than a 6 hour smoked, dry pork rib.

It is a matter of the dry rub (the day before) AND the type of wood you smoke with AND the secret mop a person uses. I always do at least 3 racks when I smoke ribs, one of those racks will be wet for the last 30 minutes for those that like a tomato based taste and it's rare if there's any leftovers. That's why I never order ribs when we go out to eat, I know how good ribs can be, most restaurants struggle unless it's a dedicated BBQ shop--you know what I mean[:)]

yesterday I took BB rabbit hunting. If you've ever seen a long hound like a beagle or daushound go hunting, it's pretty commical. If you are middle age, you probably recall the long ladder trucks that required a driver in the front and one in the rear to steer the rear end around the sharp corners.

Watch a hound go hunting. The front of them will turn followed some time later by the tail-wagging rear end. It's hilarious. They ziggzag all over scenting the rabbit; and pretty serious business for them, I might add.

Well back to the story. While wabbit hunting yesterday, she came upon a lame baby robbin that was running around with a broken wing. Instead of feasting on it like she would on a healthy, sporty kill, she took pity on the bird and left it alone. What a gentleman hound. Or in this case, a sporting *** hound.

Anyway, after quite a while of rabbit chasing, a storm came in from the south. Now, nothing in this world; even the gates of hell., cannot stop a beagle from rabbit chasing.

But the one thing that would terminate a hunt for BB is thunder. THe hound is absolutely terrified of it (4th of July fireworks too). Like your dog that is scared of railsounds, BB wimps out with thunder. She high-tailed it home and found a secure closet in the basement to camp out in until the storm passed.

Underworld. I'm not sure b/c I'm not allergic to ragweed (but am allergic to oak pollen).

This morning out hunting w/the hound, saw that the ragweed is still growing in the fields but the tiny leaves are beginning to open more. Better hurry and get some. Good trees on a layout are nothing to sneeze at....well, not always.
