Ran across this , Is this the correct model number? I’ve never heard of one.

I know the loco is an uncataloged model number from that time period of 1959-1961 time frame. As for the set, I don't believe this is a regular Lionel type set number. But many department stores such as Sears, Mont. Ward, Pennys, etc. sold exclusive Lionel sets, even if they weren't always top of the line products. This could very well be one of those department store sets. These sets were often made up or put together from remaining factory inventory.

It's a challenge to keep track of all the uncataloged sets that Lionel made for department stores, but I'm sure someone here may have more info on this one.

At that price it is a steal. If I collected Lionel,I would go for it in a New York Minute[:)]!

Don't forget that the auction is not over and the real price escalation will not occur until the last few minutes of the auction.Looks like a department store special.According to _Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains 1945-69,This was a low-end engine and set with no reverse unit,no horn,no weight.no light,in fact not much of anything! It does not compare to the earlier die-cast frame Alcos of the early'50s.

The Doctor Is In!!! The set in question is #1107, An advance catalog set in 1960. it is
like the #1115 set that came with a CN alco in 1959. This info came from greenburg' guide to lionel trains, 1945-1969 Uncataloged sets. I hope this humble offering of information is helpful. Till My Next Missive, I Rermain The Humble, Yet Strangly Evil Doctor !!![}:)]
