The caboose is made by Lionel, 6-19739. Can anyone tell me something about this caboose. For instance, the year it was made? Manufactured in the U.S.A. or China? Selling price? Thank you.

Oh, if built in 1979, that was probably made here, not sure though as maybe it was made in Mexico, When General Mills owned Lionel. Not good at those ownership dates, but someone will come along soon to help you out better! Thanks, John

Hello Charlessp ! The 6907 NYC Caboose was made in 1986 and in Lionel's Michigan Factory. It was made for the Boston & Albany Hudson and is a Version of the 1950 773 Hudson with the 2226 Diecast Tender which Lionel used Between 1946-1949 for the 726 Berkshire. Grand Central Trains in Lincoln ,Nebraska May have one in stock. Just go to their website and check.( They advertise in every CTT) Hope this helps.............................Keith P.S. Lionel must have made at least one for every issue of the Hudson in the last 20 years

I think John (or trainz) made a typo. The catalog number 19739 NYC woodside caboose, numbered 6907 on the side, was in the 1997 (not 1979) Classic catalog, page 11. MSRP was $109.95. The 2005 Greenberg price guide lists the 19739 at $70 in new condition.

This catalog shows small American flags next to the descriptions of most, but not all, of the items shown (the 19739 has the flag). I think this designation signifies they were made in America.

The caboose with the 6907 catalog number, as well as caboose number, was offered in 1986.
