update on train holdups
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, March 11, 2005 2:15 PM
The great metropolis of dalton Ga. was able to meet with a spokeswoman from CSX today,to review the difficulties of tying up traffic at crossings in our town.THe representitive vowed cooperation & acknowledged that trains do sometimes have to stop & wait for periods of time for clearances. She said that crews on trainsthat are stopped should "break"a train at a crossing if they expect to be stopped for more than 15 min. this doesn't happen sometimes because separating a train lets the presure out of the breaking system & forces the crew to represurize the breakes before they can move again.Csx advised "we do not want to be a bad neighbore & will find ways to sort this out. In the meantime our town cancil will pass an ordance allowing authorities to fine the railroad for delay time.. the saga continues. Easter
