Industrial Rail Trolley Problem

Hello Everyone,
I have a IR trolley that has a bad gear in one of the drive axles.
I would like to know if anyone has had any similar problems with this unit.
Sent them an email about purchasing a new power truck,but they sent no reply.
I have heard that IR has gone out of business,but there has to be parts for theese somewhere.
I think many times going back and forth between bumpers has taken its toll on this little guy.
It's a nice looking trolley and I would like to get it running again.

Hi Carl,

IR is no longer in business, so don’t hold your breath for a reply to your e-mail.

Some others have had a problem with the drive gear becoming loose and slipping on the axle. If this is your problem, maybe some glue will hold it. If the gear is worn, then I think you will have to find another trolley.

Is it a plastic or metal gear?

Yes that is the same problem that I have.

If it is the loose gear ,you can use a two part automotive epoxey made by permatex it come's in a can of 10 small mixing kit's . Ihave used it in the past both on train's and at work on old damper actuator's. It work's great and is tough. the part # is 82234. The small pack's give it a long shelf life. give it a try and good luck. mike

cmrj has the right idea....I've done the same in the past, just different product.
Epoxy should work great for that. I repaired/rebuilt an early diecast HO loco years ago.....motor was bad and the only thing I could find that was close to a fit was a small Sagami can motor. I had to cut one shaft off of the new motor and de-solder the brass gear from the old one. The first problem was that I had to mount the new motor at an angle.....second problem was the shaft of the new motor was smaller diameter. I tried Walthers Goo....it worked great as an adhesive and filled in the gap between the shaft and the gear.
