The question I have is that I have a Lionel Southern Pacific Atlantic steamer, and it will run on the odyssey mode good till it hits a certain section of track then will speed up for about three feet the resume the speed. Anything I should do to correct this?

Its loosing power. You'll need to make a jumper for the track, or add a pickup roller
