RMT Beeps Clearing Switches
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 12:06 PM
I read somewhere (maybe here) that the RMT Beeps have a problem clearing some of the newer switches. If this is true, could someone provide more details? Thanks

The ones I have run over my MTH RealTrax, K-Line 0-27 and Lionel 0-27 switches fine. This is in Radius of 0-27 and 0-42 for Lionel and K-Line, and 0-54 for the RealTrax. One problem with the 0-54 is I cannot have them "crawl" across the switch or they will stall. Moderate speed and above is no problem.

There were some older beeps that had clearance issues with 0-27 curves in general. Something to do with the shell opening for the couplers not milled out wide enough for couplers that were coupled to another car. They would bind and derail from coupler tension. This has been taken care of with about all the beeps on RMT's website and any beep that has been produced in the past two years I believe.

If you guys were subscribers to Classic Toy Trains you would have read the article:
"Does Your Beeb Stall On Switches? Here's a Cure. " by Benjamin Nigro. The article is in the current issue, March 2005, page 63. Do yourselves a favor and subscribe.
