Marx 400 Clockwork Puffer Repair
Posted by AlanT on Saturday, May 13, 2023 8:43 PM

I picked up a Marx 400 clockwork puffer yesterday. It is seriously beat to hell. Besides the chasis being severly damamged, the mainspring is broken and the puffer bulb has perished. I would still like to get the motor running if for no other reason but to learn how to rebuild these clockworks.

I was thinking about trying a spring replacement but have no idea what to do about the bulb. Any suggestions?

Possible mainspring:

Also, wondering if this stock would be suitable for making bell springs as the bellspring in my 70s clockwork is broken. I was thinking 1/8" x 0.020 thick.
