You will see him again.
Thanks Becky, I know I will. Like everything else, in God's good time.
Same me, different spelling!
Thanks all for the kind words, they help. They really do, especially from wonderful people like yourselves.

Flint, That's really tough! Its never easy, but sometimes passing does provide releif. My mother had the same issue. But, fortunately the memories last forever!!
Don
Flint sorry for your loss, but you did get to see him one last time, so glad you where able to.
Flint - Sad news on your father's passing. Safe travels this week. Take care.
A bit of a sad week for me folks.
I just returned from a family emergency trip to Florida, drove down, drove back, so I'm kind of beat. My father has been battling colon cancer for the past year and I was told time was getting short so if I wanted to see him I'd better get down there. He was comatose when I arrived but I did get a last look and goodbye. He passed away 3:00 AM Thursday morning.
Dad was 95, and that being the case when you have a parent in that age bracket you know the day has to come but you dread it anyway. The day's come and now gone. I'll be heading back Wednesday for the memorial service so I'll be dropping off the screen for a few days. Mom's holding up splendidly and so's the rest of the family. Honestly, it was a release for Dad which makes it a bit easier.
But we still have the great memories!
Congratulations fife to you and all the folks in fifedom. Especially congratulations to the Princess for all of her hard work. It takes an entire entourage to get a child through to a Bachelors Degree. Time to celebrate!
When does she start on her Masters?
As I have said before, if feels like I have watched your family grow up through the years on the forum.
Thanks for sharing the good news with us. Kleenex are on the way.

Aloha and Happy Sunday. Got back an hour ago from officiating at a wedding in Florida - I don't do this often and am always nervous about screwing it up - but I didn't. It sure was nice summer weather down there (in the 90s). And I am happy to come back to 70s here for the foreseeable future. This will be a busy week for me with Commencement ceremonies this Saturday.Congratulations to FifePrincess!

Congrats to the princess fife.
not much going on today, need to goto store for some lettuce, as local farm had fresh tomatoes yesterday for sale. So you all know what I'm having today:)
Mornin' guys and gals. Cloudy and 49 in the Potomac Highlands. Will grab a bite to eat and head up to the Cumberland Railraod Museum this AM.
Well, my baby girl graduated with her BS in Social Work, Magnum Koom Lordie. Fifey got a little misty-eyed watching her cross the stage. We had all three princesses there, and had a celebration dinner afterwards up in Hagerstown. Oh, she wore the green dress. Alexis had just started kindergarten when I first joined this forum, and over the years she'd appear in SPF pics.
Can you please hand me a tissue...
Evening,
my friend who is going to work with me on building my layout might come to my place where I plan to build it soon. (Gave him directions) he is in the hobby, but models in HO and N scales. Now to wait on my MTH premiere ICG caboose to arrive!
Good Morning
Sounds like a nice trip, DonB!!! I dream of a motorhome with a trailer for 2 cars (my road runner and Jenni's Charger) and we hit all the cool car spots and historical sites on the way to Cali. Maybe if I hit the lottery, lol.
Fife - Daddy/Daugther times are always the best. I miss my Princess.....
Took delivery of my Williams Broadway Limited 4 car set sans trucks, so the search for 6 wheeled trucks has commenced. They will go with the future T1 or the GG1 (I also have a K4s!) Those cars are gorgeous!!! can't wait to get them on the layout, once it's built, lol
The Sun is making an appearance after being missed for 5 days - 72F later on.
That's all I got for now, I'll check back soon
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 49 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Just saw my first oriole of this Spring. Good start to a BIG day in Fifedom. Only second to what's going on in the Abbey...
Spent yesterday with Youngest Princess, traveling to Altoona, to find a graduation dress. She got a navy blue one, and a jade green one. It was a nice daddy-daughter day, culminating with a nice meal at Primanti Bros.
Had a wonderful chat with Don B when I got home. I hope to trace his steps across America, one day...
Evening, I ordered a Weaver Gulf, Mobile and Ohio 2-Bay coal hopper (New-Old Stock) and an MTH Premiere Illinois Central Gulf N8 caboose off eBay. (Both will look pretty good on my planned layout. Might even show them on my YouTube channel.)
I've never had anything Weaver before, so this is a first...
dbaker48 Fife, Any reccommendations on posting pictures? I did use Shutterfly, but no longer available. Thanks, Don
Fife,
Any reccommendations on posting pictures? I did use Shutterfly, but no longer available.
Thanks,
I still use shutterfly. all they did was shut down the area where you could make a web page. I don't know why but sometimes I have to hit refresh to get the site.

Good Evening,
Hey, I did it! Got a photo to appear. (Don't know if I will be able to do it again, but will try). I wouldn't have had this help without the assistance of Fife and Penny! Thanks a bunch!!! We got back home from our trip on Monday, been sorting things out and getting caught up on stuff around here. Sure was an eventful and exciting trip. Of course the major event was the truck Chris came home with, that is still mind blowing to us here. Then not only where we able to spend time with Kay's family, but I even met a couple of relatives of mine I had never met. Kay's family (mom and dad) are all from Superior, Wis.. My Dad's family is from a place called Crivitz Wis., about 250 miles from Superior. I remember visiting the "Baker" home when I was 8 or 9 yrs old. And my grandmothers family had a place called Nesters Corners there as well. Long story short, Kays Aunt had a couple of hunting trophies her Uncle had, but the Aunt hated them, and wanted them gone. So I contacted the people currently running Nesters Corners and offered the trophies to them. They liked them, so we delivered them. And in the process visited the old Baker house and its current owner. That was totally overwhelming!! And saw "Baker Lane" and "Nester Road". Then since Chris owns 1 of the Green Bay Packer shares, we went to Green Bay and toured Lambeau Field, that was unbelievable. Then had time to visit the GB train museum including the 4017 that is there. For a city the size of Green Bay they have an outstanding collection and facility. From there we went to Milwuakee and visited more relatives, then on to Branson. Branson was really cool, we saw 3 shows, and really enjoyed the time. Finally started home last week and pretty much the rest of the time we were 1 to 2 days ahead of the weather storms. Stopped at many sites we had just driven by in the past, e.g. The Largest Truck Stop in the US, located in Iowa, and so much more! Was just a terrific trip! But it is always GREAT to be home!! (I think the underlining is a result of the editing I have done, not intended).

Evenin' and . Happy STAR WARS day. Must be a tremor in the force, as it took me five times to post.
Wayside - IC+GMO will make for a different flavor of layout. I'd be tempted to put in a SPARTA depot.
anjdevil - Looking forward to following the new layout progress.
Northwoods - Don't forget cigars, Pappy.
Ok, I'll Try Espresso Some Time (TEST) but I thought all anyone was serving here was plain old coffee.
fifedog Test.
Test.
But I didn't finish reading the Cliff Notes
Test complete
Evening.
Played some softball today, two games. I also started to have some thoughts about my planned layout, it may possibly focus on Gulf, Mobile and Ohio/Illinois Central Gulf while running other roads of course.
That's all I have for now.
Good afternoon
50ish here and maybe 60F tomorrow with mostly cloudy skies
We got the initial OK from the township for the toy box, next step is funding and customizing. It's gonna need a concrete foundation. Once it's in, we'll epoxy the floor and seal it up.
Upstairs, the layout will be 6X18 - I'm going run O-48 or O-54 curves, double track main with 1 crossover and a couple of passing tracks. I'll have an 8' L for the log loader and the sawmill. I MAY throw the bascule bridge in there for giggles.
I'll have a HO scale drag strip 13 X 4, that can be put away. Plus TV, lounge, carpeting - all that. It'll be a very nice space.
Off of softball this week for a pinched nerve, I have to run the County Fireman's Memorial Service tonight. Might be a late night.
Awaiting my 4 car Williams PRR set - sans trucks, I won at auction for $75 -just need to see what truck will fit under there. They should match up nicely with either my GG1 or my dream locomotive the PRR T-1 Duplex.
Gotta run back to work - check back soonest
Good Morning folks.
Its bright and sunny and 30 degrees here overlooking St. Louis Bay.
fife my parents always taught me the importance of sharing with my friends. The winds have finally died down here. We had 20 mph sustained winds for 3 days with gusts up to 50 mph off the lake. I can't remember if I sent some of these off to you or not. The winds did some damage to our fence so repair work will be in order. BTW Deuces may be arriving by the weekend. Her real name will be Eden Elizabeth.
I'm hoping to do some more photographing of recent purchases today.
Have a great day,
cnw1995 - In spite of my polite requests, Northwoods insists on "sharing" his Duluth drudgery.
Aloha. Looks like a beautiful day - may hit the 50s for the first time in a while. Like Kev said, the winter has been lingering. It was only 35 a few hours ago. I have to drive a total of 4 1/2 hours today to put in an appearance at a half-hour meeting. Sigh. Ah well, it's a pretty day to be stuck in traffic. Flintlock, I neglected to compliment you on your nice pick-ups at York.Fife, that is an impressive amount of snow up on that mountain.
