Removing 221 Shell
Posted by gottcent on Thursday, November 17, 2022 12:15 PM

Lionel's early postwar 221 Dreyfuss steamer is featured in the current issue of CTT. I have that engine but mine has developed an electrical short. I would like to remove the shell to investigate the cause but I can't figure out how to do so. How can I get inside this engine?

Remove the two screws in the front truck bracket, remove the rear truck, remove the recessed oval head screw from the boiler just behind the stack, and slide the mechanism out of the rear mounting slots.

Thanks. I'll give that a try.
