We're on Basset Hound #9, we've had them since 1977, and it's never gotten easier when we had to let them go.

Will attempt to revive the poor thing, but with how common they are, procuring a replacement should be no hardship. I didn't see any smoke...

Good Morning and a belated Happy Thanksgiving
So for the first time in many a year, Mom's house was empty and quiet on T-Day. Very sad, indeed. Traveled to my in laws, had a little hot tub time and I was asked to carve the bird. Food and merriment was abundant.
Tried to clean the house on Friday, my sore back prevented most of it, but the living room and dining room are about ready to be decorated.
4 AM Saturday we got a call from the Princess, Smurf the Wonder Cat was worse. We stayed until Jenni had to leave for work at 0700 and I called the local pet hospital, We lost our precious Smurf at 10 AM. He gave us 20 years of love and amusement. We are all heartbroken. Like clockwork, my veritgo decided it was time to kick in and I was in bed until 6 PM.
Sunday we took a ride to Greenburg's Edison and Jenni found some nice N scale things, I bought a new LionChief 2.0 Polar Express, just for the engine and tender so the rest including the track and power supply will be sold off.
Last night was Jenni's Charger's 50th build date so we were out for a few photos with the roadrunner and her Charger at the local Dodge dealership. Dinner at Wawa and then home.
Rain today, was at 39F when I fed all the kitties - 59F with rain later.

Evening, over thanksgiving weekend, the Christmas decor went up and the following week, I set up my annual layout under the tree.
Nothing special, just a simple loop of Fastrack under the tree.
I do have my Lionchief plus 2.0 0-6-0t pulling a short little freight under it.

Well back about 2 weeks ago I went to get an eye exam and got sent to an eye specialist as it appears I had the beginning of a torn retina. So I got laser surgery on my left eye. Yesterday went for a 2-week follow-up.
So all is good now.
Otherwise not a lot going on here. Need to finish insulating and installing a ceiling in the garage, next will be the walls. Then clear all out for T-bird and the truck to be parked in there.
The good news is that I finished, painted, and applied cork underlay to North Pole Village layout. The bad news is all of those D56 boxes waiting to be opened.

Been a long week but a good one. Well it started out on a bummer, a week ago today my PC's hard drive locked up. So I took it Monday to the local guys that work on these and they confirmed it was dead. They suggested I just replace the drive with a new solid state one and said they could do it under $200 so I said sure but it left me without a PC till yesterday and I have spent all of today re-installing stuff but it now seems to be almost back to normal. They did save most everything it had on it so that was good.
Turkey day was fun and we have been having better than normal weather. Yesterday the SIL and grandson came out and they helped me find the west end property pins and install T posts with ribbons so you can see where they are now. Daughter and granddaughter helped wifey put up the Christmas tree and other stuff while we worked on the land. Today has been rain and temps have dropped to normal range so it was a good day to work on the PC issues.
Train stuff has been on hold so not much there but it will come with the colder weather. I did put the chains on the John Deere 3203 but have not put the snow plow on yet, but that is a snap so no big deal.

Fife, my 3662 was one of the best purchases I've made of an operating car! My 3472 can't compete with how reliable the improved 3662 is, and I like the larger size of the 3662 as well. It looks much better alongside my other 'standard O' rollingstock.I'm still slowly working on my horse car and coral, they also work better than the earlier 'O27' sized cars... but the horses are currently too sluggish on parts of the coral side, so something needs tweaking.Sounds like it was a good show! I can barely wait for the upcoming show in Springfield MA... it's been 3 years since I could last attend it, and I'm excited to see what kinds of goodies I can find. -Ellie
Mornin' guys and gals. Cooler and rainy along the Allegheny front-range. I will be volunteering today at the NRHS WM Chapter museum and caboose later on. Ms Kelly is wanting to decorate inside today.
Attended the train show at the Washington County AG Center. I went there hoping to score a Lionel operating milk car, as well as an operating track with control. Check, and check. Actually got a clean looking Lionel 36621 with 7 cans. Also picked up an AF Mobil tank car 24316 that I've been fancying, and a good ol' RMT WM Northeast style caboose. Found a nice K-Line red push button control, and rounded up my purchases with a new WM Speedletter ball cap from the WMHS table. All-in-all nice show, and I spent less than $100.
Just got done checking the 36621 out, a little oil on the axles, and it fired out the milk cans perfectly. So my Supplee car is obviously the culprit. But now I have another activation track to bench test future repair attempts.
Mornin' guys and gals. Overcast and 38 in the Potomac Highlands. Headed back to B'more yesterday to enjoy Thanksgiving with in-laws. Oldest Princess and crew were there as well, so it was nice to visit with grandsons too. BIL is a chef, so meal was excellent. I normally balk at back-and-forth driving, but traffic was not an issue, and we made excellent time both directions. I wisely avoided and too much .
I intend on attending Hagerstown train show tomorrow.
Happy Thanksgiving to all and a quiet time to remember those we have lost this year. A hugh thank you to those that serve the USA in the armed forces that are deployed overseas keeping us safe on this Thanksgiving day. Hope everybody gets a chance to run some trains this holiday weekend or start putting up the holiday train display.

Didn't get to do work on, or video the 282 gantry crane today. I was too distracted with the new engine Made a post in the 'HO thread', but here's a before and after:Also took a quick video of it. For added fun, I fired off the 0850 Missile Car. It uses the same missiles as the O gauge 44, 45, 6544, 6844, etc.A funny detail about these little switchers, Lionel couldn't fit any significant reduction gearing into their design, which means these little switchers can really fly without too much juice. Full throttle might just send one into hyperspace- I've never tried -Ellie

Had a meeting last night, then ran out with Ms. Jenni for birthday present shopping and picked up a few things for the Princess. We cleaned the piggy cage then bed - another late night. Hope to take the night off, then to the in laws tomorrow - for the first time in a many years, I will not be cooking and Mom's house will be empty. Very sad.
Planning a 4 X 8 under the tree layout in the next few weeks, furniture rearraignment will commence soon. Operation Decoration will start within the next few weeks and we'll have Mom's house decorated. Just deciding on Jenni's.

Chilly and crisp this morning, but the sun is out- I woke up early, and played around more with the 282. I think I was wrong, the clutch is slipping. Probably will see about adjusting the clutch spring tension later today. I had a lot of fun loading and unloading scrap metal from/to a gondola. The cats took a fair bit of interest too.I am happy to report my little 0059 Minuteman arrived today with no shipping damage, well packed it's surprised me how often that's not the case, so I was relieved.It's in worse shape than I thought, but the shell has very little in the way of cracks or chipping. And it has the original motor cover on the bottom! Usually the cover is missing from these, and I don't think anyone's reproduced them?Anyhow, here she is, alongside a 41 for scale:Going to be a bit of a job to get her running, but I can peek at the back of the motor through the cab, and all the motor windings look like the right color.-Ellie

Here's your pic again, as an embed:In spite of the snow, all those lights do is make me feel warm and cozy.It seems like I've gotten hung up on cranes lately, because last night I remembered that I own a 282 Gantry Crane, and it used to even work. It's been in pieces for years, once in a while I would do a little this or that on it, but there was just so much wrong with it that needed fixing! Well, today I decided it was high time I got the old girl running again.And against all odds, I did! It took me a good few hours, but I now have a fully functional 282 again... though the magnet feels weaker than I remember? Also, it's a lot noisier when raising the hook, than when it is performing any of the other functions. The increase in noise also comes with the cab shaking a bit- at first I was thinking maybe the clutch spring was too tight, but if that were the case, it would be disengaging from the hoist entirely and starting to turn, not just being noisy.I may throw in some additional lubricant... it's louder than I remember it being! I had to give it a rest after only a few minutes playing with it, the thing growls louder than anything else I have.Will post a picture, and maybe a video, soon. Didn't have a good moment to do so tonight.-Ellie

Setr up the racks for Christmas Tress sales last night, Jenni completed 2 more pumkin pies, she did one Sunday, I did 3 pecan pies.

Santa does his drive by Friday Night, I'll be cleaning most of Friday and possibly Saturday. Depending, may start decorating this weekend.
Greenburgs Edison should be ALL DAY Sunday, can't wait....I have some money saved....I'm also off December 3rd for Lionel Train Day. Hope to get my 1666 and my GP38 back from repairs, may drop off my MTH LocoSound NYC engine, weighing if I should just buy a $100 board or have it diagnosed.
Sunny and 31F - hate it, but it is late fall in Jersey..........
