Mornin' guys and gals. Today is the first day of Turkey Hunting season in WV. I shall stay inside.

Wild turkeys are making an amazing comeback in some places.  It was ten years ago we were visiting Lady Firestorm's mom in Paramus NJ when I spotted a wild turkey walking down the street!  In suburban NJ!

I ran inside to get Lady F so she could see for herself.  After spotting the turkey she said:

Even though it's October, I've picked up a few pieces for my "Christmas setup" this year on my layout! A ceramic water tower from Walmart along with a lamp post set and a sculpture of a dog mailing a letter to Santa!

These will go with my other Walmart  Christmas buildings this season.

I'm waiting for a Lionel prewar 45 degree crossover to match the O21 turnouts I already bought to transform my little dogbone.  I'll start layout disassembly and track plan testing soon!  Big Smile

Evenin' Fellas

Been having a lot of fun spending time with the kiddos. While TheQ was in Salt Lake City last week we went to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Got some trinkets for TheQ for Christmas. One is a sign the says "Dear Santa, Before I explain, how much do you know already?" Laugh During dinner I talked to the kids about our New Year's trip and mentioned that Mr Fife requested a drop-in either on the way up or the way back. Response "YES!" Followed by Matthew "Why just one, can't we stop in both ways?" "Why?" "Because he runs trains while we are there, and we can tell him all about the trip." Fife - you have been warned. LaughLaugh

Have fun!

A turkey flying upside down?

I talked with one of the organizers of the train show here in Sedalia that is being held the 1st weekend of November.  He had a rather prominent spot saved for me to put up a layout.  I told him that the Polar Express themed layout is semi packed waiting to be moved.  I won't be able to use it, so I asked if that was a deal breaker.  Nope, it isn't.  So, I'm on the hook to come up with a 6' by 9' display.  Digging through the part of my collection I have here, it looks like I could do three loops, with the outer one having a Haloween theme (yup, I know it will be too late, but I'll do it anyhow), maybe an early 60's Lionel space theme loop, and maybe an olde west themed loop on the 027 loop on the inside.

Mornin' guys and gals. Rain and mild 63 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will spend some time in the train room today. Halfway through painting new scenery. Stopped by the Dollar General and picked up a 10 count LED bat string, and a bag of eyeball gumballs (for Halloween train).

Yesterday, Ms Kelly and I ventured up to Deep Creek Lake. The leaves were almost near peak color up there.  Stopped by the Wally Mart, where she fell in love with some of the Christmas decor (for front porch). We also visited the Thomas Kincade shop in Oakland. She picked out some glass pumpkins, and a black bear print. Across the street is a consignment shop, and I picked up a Lionel PW Celebration 6315 tank car for $20. No box, but C8. Had a fancy anniversary dinner of crab dip, broiled crab cake, and crab imperial. (Sorry, no crabby-patties).

And YES, Fifey was kinda sore for pushin' it...

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 40 along the Alleghany front range. Color changes big time on the trees. Will have to bring Paradise in nightly now.

Did work in train room before and after dinner. Painting went good, also prepping a little how-to video for future.

Did set up my version of a Halloween consist on the layout. It's different. Also, going all orange and black on each of the 4 loops.

HOWEVER...Sigh my LIONEL SUPPLEE operating milk car is not operating. Found teenie-weenie broken wire to center roller, and after several attempts to fix, still no loading. The coil couplers will fire on both ends, but not even a buzz on the unloading sequence. Will have to get back after it. The new operating milkcars have a circuit board thrown in there, and I hope I didn't screw that up. Bang Head

Circuit boards. Bang HeadBang HeadBang Head

I'm better.

Chances are you didn't.  The problem with circuit boards is they can last 20 years or blow tomorrow, you just never know.  Trust me on that.  If the board's blown it's probably not your fault.

No he wasn't, but he just didn't have the manic energy Frank Gorshin did.

On the other hand, John owned the Gomez Addams role!

Good Afternoon

Getting ready to end my work week - then off to BJs wholesale club for major shopping.

Brought more stuff home and I have my 2014 Lionel Price Guide and I'll be checking off boxes as we go.  Later on, I will transfer this to a spreadsheet.  Too much to do in a short amount of time.

Go the OK to clean up and take Mom's 2000 Mustang to a car show tomorrow, it's has been in the garage since December.  Mom always wanted to go, just was "too cold" for her.  In her honor, I'll be leaving the road runner home and taking the 'Stang.  I'll be cleaning that and Jenni's Charger for the show.

The show is a block from Jenni's so I may get to spend som time on the Super Bee project.  It runs, just have to figure out the wiring from the switch to the RUN position.

Monday back at the Princess to go through the Christmas Orniments and then they will be packed.  Need to get more stuff from my house to here.

72F the high today, similar for tomorrow.  Rain late in the day - we hope.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 52 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Gonna try a little pruning outside afterwhile, then watch the Las Vegas race.  Wifey said she saw a bald eagle in our backyard this morning. It was munching on something. No bear sightings however, just deer.

Yesterday, stopped by the chapter museum for a little while. Felt good to be there, but couldn't stand for long periods of time. Took our Secretary home, at which time the check engine symbol illuminated for me... Truck not running rough, so hopefully sensor thingie.

Yeah, every time I get a "check engine" light I give it two or three days (if the engine's not running rough) to see if it goes away on its own.  Usually it does.

I've had "check engine" come on when I've changed brands of gasoline.  Go figure.  I had a co-worker with a new late model car that had chronic "check engine" indications, his mechanics couldn't figure out why since everything always checked out normal.  They told him to ignore it so he put some black electrical tape over it!
