Afternoon,

Just having a lazy Monday in after working on the weekend.

Not much else to report. I do know the Atlanta Model Train Show and Sale is coming up, but I'm not sure if I'll go to that this year (maybe next year)

Yeah, and it's got me worried too.  Me buying tinplate IS kinda freakish.  Wink

You know, there were TWO 226e's for sale at the show, one 100% correct and one with a substitute 12 wheel tender with a knuckle coupler making it suitable for pulling post-war rolling stock.  Both were very reasonably priced and I WAS thinking about it but went with the 259e set.  I'm not sorry, there'll be other 226's out there.

Evenin' guys and gals. Thermometer on the front porch reads 96. A slight breeze is making the Paradise sway, as the hummingbirds are fighting over the feeder. The hammie is a bit better today, but still striding with a limp. Sooooo, wifey volunteered to cut the front lawn. This was the first time she's pushed a lawnmower in nearly 25 years. Normally, Fifedom has finely manicured rows, or gentle arcs; today it's more like spirographs. She got it all though, and I'm happy.

Good Afternoon

Sunday's trip to Edison was good, but not as fruitful as I had hoped.  I came away with a used MTH Stationary store and scale Reading Caboose for $20, a Morton Salt hopper NIB by Lionel for $35, 2 bags of trees for $10 and 4 pole lights for $5.

Jenni bought 4 locomotives in the scale of N and a few other things.  Next Sunday, I pick up a new to her N scale layout from a friend, possible more N scale stuff and possibly some HO.

Softball yesterday yielded a 14-13 WIN as I went 1-3 last night, the 6th inning I started off with a long single and we scored 5.  Bottom of the 7th down by 3, we scored 4 and won.

Still in the 90s until Thursday.

Yeah, I have some of the pre-war tinplate as well....nice stuff, lol

anjdevil - I've been watching some of the YT videos on the show. Haven't spotted you and your bride in the background yet. But I could've blown through a mini-wad easily with what I've seen on the vendor tables. Good luck with your N-scale "situation". Hope the rash clears up soon.Laugh

Evening,

nothing much going on here...I did have to order a Gen 1 Secondary Air Injection System Bypass kit for my Tundra, because it was acting up.

Other than that, nothing.

I've been watching some of the YT videos on the show.

Same here, both Dakman's and dagryffyn's.  That show sure looks impressive, I've got to get back up there one of these days, that or one of the Allentown shows.  One of life's imponderables.  Hmm

I sure would like to also, but don't see it happening with the wife's condition. She's doing okay but just can't do long trips, and from here to PA is about 600 miles one way.

Mornin' guys and gals. Overcast and 77;StormLightning on the way... Dusting and vacuuming top the list of to-do's. Hamstring easing nicely, so was able to finish yard work, and helped Alexis give FifeMax a bath.

My good buddy, Tom, is coming to visit tomorrow, and after dinner it was off to the train room. He prefers to run modern equipment, so the 19th century comes off, and more modern rolling stock goes on. Need to build more shelves, and this certainly is a motivator.

Flint - any video of your show to pass on?

Very understandable.  Honestly my usual limit for train shows is a two hour drive, maybe two and a half hours tops.  Anything further than that is only if I'm working the show in with another purpose, like visits to friends and family.

I'll tell you though, I'm doing pretty well within my two hour limit.

There wasn't anyone shooting video I'm aware of, if any surfaces I'll certainly link it.

If any photos were taken that show up on the club's website I'll link those as well.

For what it's worth, here's a video of the 2018 Charlottesville show, the last one didn't look too much different.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx8QqQmvN00

We'd like to get someone to shoot "official" show vid's but no luck so far.

Afternoon all.

No plans for today, going to take it easy as my knees are hurting. To much walking and crawling past few days.

Rich, remind your realtor it's easier to come down in price than trying to raise it.

79* going to 84* today. Semi-overcast at present. Slight chance of rain this evening.

Not sure what I want to do on the plywood of the layout. I have about 1 1/2 loops done with one siding done, but if I'm going to put carpet down, why continue building as will need to pick it all up? If I go the scenic express route I can do that with the track down, but what about the cracks between the boards, what if I need to walk across it, can I walk on scenic express covering without leaving footprints? I would think not. So looks like if anything I'm going to have to do carpet or just paint it. ( ugg) ( would love some input on this )

A train jumped its track here in Greenville. Just came across the news as breaking news.

Hope all have a good day.

Sunny and mid 70's here today.  Dog and I got a little over a mile and a half walk in today.  Stopping at the Post Office to check our P.O. box on the way home, I discovered a large envelope from Charles Ro.  Was the 2022 volume 2 Lionel catalog.

Leafed through it and found a new control system. At least this one is an attempt to make something that is supposed to be comparable with all of the last several new control systems.

The items in the catalog are nice, but are priced in a higher range than I am ready to spend.  There are several references to the digital volume 2 catalog.  I'll have to hit the Lionel web site to see what else is being offered.  Functional, but not the same as sitting down with a cup of coffee and leafing through a real catalog.

All for now.

Good afternoon!

Beautiful Day her ein Central NJ, windows are all open and the A/C is off - giving my wallet and the air conditioner a break.

Won our playoff games and now on to the Chanpionship Round on Monday.

Meeting last night went well, as our "chief" was a no show again.

Fife - Unfortunately, the Mrs. is hooked on the Scale of N so no cure is coming in the near future -

RT - Exactly - if he throws me a lower bid, I'll tell him to list it at $295K and let it fly.  I'm not leaving money on the table - I have to pay for a wedding and my retirement.  I'm still paying for my wedding.....

The wifes's final piece of her On30 set came in from Bradford house, so I tucked it away for now.  Yup just another gauge I have to deal with, lol

I'll be heading to Jenni's house after I take care of the firehouse ballroom.  General cleaning and trash removal after a small party tonight.  I'll need to change the sign out front as the 9/11 motorcycle run is coming through town next week.  I'll return here to work on Saturday Morning.  Sunday, off to Mountain Top, PA for a N scale layout (see, told ya, Fife, there is no escape...).

So that's all from here - will check back soonest

Afternoon,

Nothing here to write home about, just might go to Freddy's Steakburgers and Frozen Custard (I call it an upscale Steak N Shake) next Friday with a friend.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 51 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. My best train buddy, Tom, arrived here Thursday afternoon. He brought us crabcakes from Pappas for dinner. Dinner Excellent. He also brought his new Lionel-TCA Bicentennial SD45-2s to run in the train room. Beauties! SPF, for sure. Travelled to Altoona yesterday, stopped by the RR museum, Juniata shops, Horshoe Curve, Gallitzin, and a local train store. Today, headed to our chapter museum.

anjdevil - On3 is tolerable, I s'pose. Idea Hey, whenever she is messing with the N, ask her if she's aware how much she squints.

Fife - you're gonna get me divorced before my first anniversary, lol

I have SOME HO, but not looking to get crazy with it.  It's a nice little set up, track and powerpack looks to be Bachmann, I heard that the engine was a Riverossi, but I have to look at it again.  Jenni did get a B&O President Hayes that is Riverossi and to her surprise, the instructions are in Italian, which she can read....

Got the windows open and a nice easterly breeze blowin' through the house.  Would be a great night for street racing, but, I'm outta racecars right now.  I have to get up early tomorrow to go get Jenni's N Scale layout, so I'm gonna leave 9 ish or so.

Still organizing what train stuff I have here, trying to put things away if the Princess moves in.  Rather do it now than last minute.

BTW - work sucks, still, lol - but it pays the bills - 2.5 more years until I can collect SS (at full payment, of course)......

Mornin' guys and gals. Overcast and 65 in the Potomac Highlands.

Tom headed home yesterday afternoon. It was a very nice visit, and we look forward to his next stay. A lifelong bachelor, this is his only taste of family life, and he certainly enjoys home-cooked meals. I put together a video with his new engines, but need youngest princess help with adding a little bump music.

Headed to RR museum to help move displays away from wall due to plumbing work being done this week.

Anjdevil2 - I'm a ward of the state now.  My first SS payment is due this week.  Still have too many house type projects in the way of getting a layout built, though.

Was fun with pipes day again today.  Rented a drain snake to take another run at the roots in the drain at the lake house.  This time, I went from the outside in, starting in the lift pump pit.  Part of this plumbing is iron pipe.  Roots are getting into the pipe about 6 feet in from the edge of the slab.  Looks like I'be got to bust up the floor and replace the drain pipes.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 60 in the Potomac Highlands. Been good sleeping weather, but not ready for Summer to fade away just yet. Might start focusing on the last section of scenery today. At least get the cardboard lattice-work glued in place. Grandsons are coming next week, so I want to construct another 6 foot shelf unit with older boy.

And been thinking about the North Pole Village rebuild. Ms Kelly wants a more tiered look, so that means some benchwork. Nothing heavy, all 1x2.

8n - Some things you just gotta have. Good luck with the fix.

Hi all, been awhile,
Lots of things going on, some good, some maybe, some not so.
Let’s see, last Wednesday we had the daughters 9 and 11 year old kids. Wifey tells me hey, there is no hot water,,,and BTW water is all over the basement floor. Nice,, I look and sure as heck water heater # 3 since 2007 is leaking!  So I look and there is so much water in the bottom it won’t light, I call our guy and discuss and I decide I want to try a tankless heater this time, good news is they can do it but a lot of plumbing is needed. Can’t do it for two days so I drill some holes in the bottom pan of the tank, let it drain down, it lights and we have hot water but still leaking.  Quote for a Navien unit is about 2k and $1,500 install. Okay do it. So I spent my birthday Friday watching them install it. I like it and it should last twice as long and use 40% less LP gas,,I hope. It also has a recirculation loop so the water is hot a lot faster. So I turn 70 and the next day I take the rusty Ranger to town and all I can smell is raw gas, get to looking and the fuel filter is,,,get this, rusted through. Okay no Biggy right? I drive the 2017  Colorado to the parts store to get the filter and on the way home the trans starts to shake you out of the truck. BTW it only has 25,666 miles and is one month out of warranty,,WTH?? Long story short the dealer knew about this issue and covered it. I will pick it up tomorrow. Next they found a nodule on my thyroid when I was getting scans on my back when it broke from the fall that broke my ankle. Now it is biopsy time for that. So nothing but fun, fun , fun here on The North Bluff.
Good luck 8N hope you feel better now. Smile, Wink & Grin
Best Get.

Hang in there Kev.  Hopefully, you get good results on those tests.

Talking with my wife about the plumbing in the lake house, we've decided to do a more major remodel of the bathroom now that we have to take the floor up.  The plan now, since we will be breaking the floor up, is instead of just a refresh, we will also rearrange the fixtures in the bathroom to a more sensible (to us) arrangement.  We are also wanting to go to a tankless water heater.  If we go propane, we will need to run a vent through the roof.  If we go electric, it will be easier to install, but we will need to go to a larger electrical service.
