Fife, Zinc pest, Yeah I have had it on the truck sides of a Lionel 1992 NS Dash 8-40C. No replacement parts! I used JB weld to repair it. They just crumbled into chunks. Angry

Been doing better till I got hit with another broken tooth and ear infection. Man! Bang Head Bang Head On meds so hope to be better soon. Trip to the dentist as soon as he can get me in.

Not much else.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 58 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will be volunteering back at the chapter caboose today and tomorrow.

Ms. Kelly wanted to hike yesterday, so we tried the GAP at MP10 (between Sunnyside and Mt Savage). Lots of bikes out. I kept looking for bears. Dessert first at DQ, then dinner at Cracker Barrel.  Came home and mowed the back yard.

Flint - Yep, definitely a head-scratcher.

Smokey1 - 'bout time. Laugh Decide on a plan?

Zinc pest, but on a hardly used 2009 piece of rolling stock. Woof... More specifically, this is the Wisconsin Southern Evans boxcar (pink cancer awareness).  Both trucks had the same issue.  Anyone else experience this?

Not to that extent, but I did have some Atlas couplers made around that same time period break on me.  I replaced the whole truck assemblys with Lionel ones, although I had to do a little chopping and channeling to make 'em fit.

I'm not sure it was zinc-pest, but there was definately something wrong.

Evening all. Haven't done any train-related thing in a long time, been doing things around the house. I need to get started on my new layout, seeing I haven't even started and we have been here since August 10th.

Afternoon, everyone.

My trains had been refusing to run (that or run up to a point and stop), but I've solved the problem. I replaced a piece of fastrack with a new piece and they now run the whole loop of fastrack.

in other news: I just bought an RMT BEEP Diesel locomotive on Trainz.com looking forward to getting it and running it!

Mornin' guys and gals. Overcast and 70 in the Potomac Highlands, with Storm on the way. Public utilities out trimming trees, and already knocked the power off once today.

Glad I bought an ATLAS wheel set at the show. Wished I picked up more.... I knew that one of my ATLAS  53' boxcar's had a coupler + draft gear mysteriously snapped away from the wheel set assembly. When I went to replace the old one, I noticed it had fine cracks all over it. When I pressed on it, the truck assembly side frames started to crumble in my hand. Zinc pest, but on a hardly used 2009 piece of rolling stock. Woof... More specifically, this is the Wisconsin Southern Evans boxcar (pink cancer awareness).  Both trucks had the same issue.  Anyone else experience this?Tongue Tied

So far June's been off to a good start... mentioned in the photo fun thread but I went on a very entertaining hike with a friend, over a long ago abandoned railroad with a few very severe washouts. We weren't expecting to make it as far as we did, but we ended up hiking all the way to the site of an old station and frieght house where a local trolley line connected with it. We'd been there before, but it was very different to come at it from the direction we did, following the right of way. I had a great time, and it was fascinating to experience that whole length of the route. We found many an old culvert, some with a very attractive 'keyhole' shaped arch. It was an exhausting, but very fun hike, one I'd certainly do again some day in the future.

Take care all, stay safe

Evening folks!

Well, a couple days ago some plastic tub/drawers arrived from Walmart and I basically tidied up my train space in the garage. Engines and cars in the drawers, etc. It's looking better now.

Good afternoon guys and gals. Spent day over at Middle Princess castle, working the grounds. Came home, showered off, now reclinerizing with popcorn and Beer, while Nascar race is on.

Did venture to Martinsburg yesterday, for the train show hosted by the Bunker Hill Train Club. Loved the roundhouse as a venue, and they say they will try it again October 29th. Picked up some scale people, and some wheel sets.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 65 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will be volunteering at the chapter caboose today, so if you're near Cumberland, stop by...

Contemplating going to the train show in Martinsburg, WV tomorrow (10a-3p). This is the former Bunker Hill show, that will be in the old B&O roundhouse.

Good Morning!!

Thanks, everyone!!  There were moments I had doubts, but off we go, lol.

Went 0-2 last night and we lost - I played a respectable 3rd base, at least.

With a LOT of help, got the banquet hall set up, minor things to complete, but it's just about ready to go.

Rehersal at 630 tomorrow - I'm ready for vacation and a little unwinding.

Brent - my Princess turned 30(!) last month, yeah, I feel ya!!  My step son is 43, and he will be attending along with his bride.

If y'all are in the area, feel free to stop on in.  Wedding is at 1 Cocktails at 430 All in Hightstown.

Back soon!!

Huge Congratulations Rich!

Prepping for our pending vacation so spending time getting the house projects done and getting the kids to activities.

Christina finished 5th grade on Tuesday and Matthew 3rd grade. I'm sure many of you now feel really old... I know I do.
