Wiring Fastrack to operate an MTH box car.
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, January 8, 2005 9:22 PM
Can anyone tell me wiring diagram for an MTH operating track section? I looked at the MTH site but the instructions for the 40-1008 were not what I needed. I bought an MTH operating box car but I run Fastrack.. The car needs special track MTH operating track section 40-1008 to operate it. However with a wiring diagram and some brass squares/rounds I'll kit bash my own section to operate this guy.

If this was covered somewhere else please let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I figure it out before a response comes I'll post what I did.

Hi Stan,

Wiring this should be just like the picture, lay the wire flat and connect the wires, if they are backward, just reverse them.

BTW – I use 027 tube track and use the old Lionel accessory track and it works fine. There was an article in last month OGR mag (January Run 205)about converting the box car so it would activate from the bell command.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I just bought the switch you've shown in the reply. Now I have enough info to modify my Lionel Fast Track to do the same thing.

See post below ...

One thing about trains: It doesn't matter where they’re going. What matters is deciding to get on.

Tom, Can you re-post your wiring diagram? I also use Fastrack and would like to wire a 10" track section to do the same. I hope you can find your JPG image. Thank you.
