Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 67 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Working every day this month, except Wednesdays.  Feast or famine with this outfit...

Back from the "City Beautiful", Orlando.  Spent the past 5 days there, to see Fifepup graduate from Marine Mechanics Institute.  What an accomplishment on his part, and I'm very proud.  Did get to visit Disney Springs, and I get it now.  The place is awesome.  Brought Wifey back some ears.

Regards to all those in need.

Stopped by to see if Da Chief overslept. He did.

Sun and 80s today, for one day only. Tomorrow's high will be in the 60s. Yep CTT was down, figured no one would fix it until Monday.

Good evening all,

Wife is doing some better, not as well as we hoped.  We will see how Friday goes.   Work busy today, but got a lot done.  Weather still warm.  "My" soccer girls finally got a sectional draw that might give them a good chance to reach the final, where they will get pounded, but at least they could be a runner-up.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening folks!

Well we just closed out the warmest Sept on record after a cooler than normal June, July, August. Only one day in Sely was in the 80's. All the rest in the 90's. Toasty!

Quick stop, so prayers for Kev's wife, MikeC's wife, Anj's dad, and any I missed.

Fife - congrats on Fifepup! Will he head out to sea or work at a shipyard?

Regards, Roy

Good afternoon!!

Late check in - Doc appointment at 0600 this morn, then at work at 0915.  Completed 8 cars, standing by for more.

County Meeting tonight at Princeton, then home.

Last nice day here on the East Coast - 90F today, high of 60 tomorrow....which sucks....

On tap for the weekend - Atlas has a warehouse sale, we have tickets, then Asbury Park Zombie Walk at 5.  I get Sunday off, which may entail house work and setting up the portable garages.
Maybe a motorcycle ride in the afternoon.  Leathers will be required!!

Fife - Congas on Fifepup - Clearwater? Nice area!!  West Coast of Florida is nice!

Prayers for all in need - Dad is status quo.  More tomorrow!

Oh and H & R Block screwed up my NJ Taxes, was supposed to pay $1400 - now may get a $600 refund.....I'll take it!!

Ahhh - Fife - got it. He is working on regular watercraft. Between myself and friends, we have 10 Yamaha waverunners. Could keep him busy full time. Tell him to learn boat - particularly waverunner - fiberglass repair - he will be able to comfortably retire in 10 years! Between us we have had 5 in the shop for gashes/holes in the hulls.

Still very warm. 'They' claim some cooler weather is coming - believe it when I see it!

Spent the day working on/repairing/cleaning some std ga trains we customized for an entity some time back. Sorta pleasant work....hard on the back.

Regards, Roy

Hi guys,

Been a crazy week and more to come. Spine guy for Sandra yesterday and hip guy today. Tomorrow Sandra gets a couple injections in her spine so not sure how she will feel. Then she will get a injection in her hip in two weeks and a new hip before the end of the year. To top that off the MRI shows a cyst on one of her ovaries that needs to be checked out by a OBGYN. I am flat broke with all of these co-pays and the septic cleaning, riser lid for the damn thing and new TV to replace the old one (3 years, already junk) has me up against the wall.

Stressed out in the gay woods in goonie land.   Bang Head

Sorry but had to vent!  Tongue Tied

I know I am not the only one with problems so prayers for all of you others. Angel

Will get back to it tomorrow.

Good evening all,

Kevin, I hear you.  Wife's eye situation has me super stressed about facing my retirement years taking care of an invalid (knew it would happen eventually, but thought I would have some time in retirement before things went south) and then so many idiotic events based on lack of communication at work about drove up the wall today.  Don't misunderstand me.  I love the wife and will do right by her, but when I read in some inspirational article about it was a "blessing" for some one to take care of their dying spouse for 10+ years, I want to upchuck.  Get real it is not a "blessing".  It is a trip thru the nether world and you cannot sugar coat it.  Right now that heart attack option is looking really really good except I am not playing soccer right now.....maybe during a high school tournament game I can have and stagger down to the field and collapse there.  Inspire the kids to win one for the old dude....  My luck there would be some stupid paramedic to revive me.......  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' boys.  Partly cloudy and 67 in the Potomac Highlands.  Record highs over this past week, should end overnight.  Leaves are starting to change around here.

Roy - That's actually a great idea.  I shall pass that along, thank you.

cheapclassics - I have been there.  I have thought that.  Please, be carefull what you ask for.  Grab the reigns...

Well. Happy Thursday!!

Raining and miserable right now, temps in the 60s.  Idiots were out in full force this morning, making the commute....interesting.

Got through the county meeting last night, some interesting and saddening news, we'll need a committee formed, unfortunately, some departments are leaving the association without an explanation....and the membership is getting older.  Sounds familiar?

Fire Drill tonight, then 1 more sleep until the weekend.

Astros/Rays is set, Yanks/Twins tomorrow and the Quest for the Cup IV starts anew tomorrow night.  The remote is going to get a work out......Go Devils!!  Go Yankees!!

Fife - I'll get up there.....

MikeC - I'll 2nd what Fife said.....

Off to work......was slow yesterday but still pulled off 14 scans....

Morning.  Had to get Garden Club agenda out.  I'm new chair.  [Wifey and some members wanted to get old chair out as she was causing member grief]  Took a while to create membership email group.  Now can get going for the day.  98 record high yesterday.  Same for today.  We do NOT have 90's in Oct.  No rain in sight.  Watering.

Have a good one.

Good afternoon. back from Doctors and I am hoping the injections she got today will help but the Hip doctor thinks most her pain is from the hip. We will know soon enough and work from there.

MikeC, my wife is nine years younger than I am. I never thought I would be taking care of her! Guess I worked her too hard. Embarrassed My mom passed at 32 years old and I figured I would be checking out early as well. Here I am 35 years later and still going, Ya just never know how it will all work out. Huh?

I got to give it to DaChief,,,he can sure mess up his post on this site. Laugh

Evening All,

Mike & Kev,  I sure hope your wives situations rapidly improve!  Many prayers headed your way!  I won't pretend to know the issues you are both facing.  Im sure you both are doing everything you can, may the Lord be with you!!  Wish there was something I could do.

Things around here have been rather quiet, I've been spending time diddleing around with the El Camino.  Haven't spent much time in the train room, weather has been too good.

Take care all, remember you've got lots of friends around here!

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy and 67 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.

Well yesterday, I was standing on the station platform before the "all aboard" call, when who should appear before me but Mr. & Mrs. Buckeye Rivetter!!!  What a wonderful surprise.  We spent a lot of time catching up between my duties, and they really made my day.  I made Frank promise to come back and stay at Fifedom in the future, as they were headed back to snohizo right after the train trip.

It was great seeing Conductor Fife yesterday when we rode from Cumberland to Frostburg. Unlike other tourist trains, the conductors look like conductors. He did a great job narrating the trip, too.

We have sun and clouds. From 50 to 60 today.

I won't say which one but one of those guys in the above pic looks like the one I see in my mirror every morning. Sat. is collage football day for me.

Kev I hope your wife can get relief. In spite of aches and pains I am thankful I can still get up each morning and function.

Good morning, and thanks for the kind wishes and prayers for Sandra.

Wife is at least getting around better and not B!%&hing as much. So that is great, but still having problems with the hip and walking on it. They set her up for a hip injection on the 23rd. Two days before our 33rd anniversary so I guess we won't be going anywhere special this year. The hip injection is something the INS people force you to do before they agree to the replacement. If it makes her better then they know the hip has to be replaced.

Weather here is sure changed, 40s at night and low 60s in the day. Fall for sure. Leaves are starting to fall so that time of year is here.

Dennis, Good deal on selling the car. I just left the gas station here and gas is $2.489 for 87%

Got to try to cut some grass but things are not drying out from that 6+" of rain we got a few days ago with these cool temps.

Evening All,

Kev, Glad to hear Sandra is feeling a little better!  Hope it continues to improve.  Lotta people do well after a hip replacement, hope she will be one.

Had a post last night but somehow I managed to loose it before hitting the correct button. Tongue Tied

Had intentions of going to an airshow today, it was the Red Arrows, a British fighter team, and the Thunderbirds and others.  Unfortunately it didn't work out.  Got called in to replace some awnings at MIL's.  As it turns out they are homemade, and will take me a week at least to build them.  Oh well......

Going to go see the movie "Judy" tonight.

About all I know from here.

Those pictures Buckeye posted are Great!  Didn't recognize Boss Fife, at first.  Like the photo!

Roy - The "Big Train" was 11 cars, 400+ guests, 2 diesels, 40 bikes. 3 of the cars had been in storage, and had to be cleaned up before we headed across the Potomac.  No work being performed on the steam engine this week.

fife....Eleven cars going up the grade to Frostburg, had to be a heavy pull. Did you turn both locomotives on the turntable? Or was it a push-pull operation? Did you see my comment card? You would know who wrote it if you see it.

Kev...I have three steel pins in my hip since 1964. When the temperature dives below zero, I feel twitches in my hip. Physical therapy is the key. In my opinion, they do the shots to appease the insurance company.

Bushed from doing the state fair again today with wife, daughter, and future SIL. Got to see the Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corp. Excellent show as always. Lucky as today was their last day here. Son could Not make it. Big Physics test tomorrow. So he and I plan to go next Friday.

Dennis - good deal on selling the car!

Fife - man, that is a big group for a tourist RR and it ain't even leaf season yet (or is it?)

Hello there,

been one of those weeks.     Preop for my surgery, two other appointments and some needy inlaws took up some of it.   Been unusually warm but cooler weather expected. Might need heat by the time we get back from York so
I cleaned the boiler at the farm house, that took longer than usual. Had to repair the flange the stove pipe fits over. Bout 3/4 of the way around the spot welds supporting it were broken.  16 pop rivets the whole way around it tightened it right up. Can't complain,  it was new in 69.
Did start to split the tree. Did 2 16 inch sections of trunk and  had enough to fill the trailer pictured earlier. Also getting the camper ready for the trip

Saturday did some errands, got a flu shot, fixed a couple of things on the camper and went to Mass. Today I felt like I was catching the crud, didn't feel super bad but not good. Didn't do the announcing as I usually do at the hillclimb, worked the gate instead. Then napped until son's second ride. Left shortly after that. Need to check the points but I think son should be 1st in his class.

Kev and Mike C........Prayers for the Mrs.

Buckeye . .....nice pics

Fife.........a big train like that should help with $$$$$ for the steam engine.

Dennis........good deal on the car

Bed is calling

Prayers for those in need.

Banks - Merely playing catch-up with trains like that.  Remember the lay-offs?

Roy - Looks like peak will be just after Columbus Day this year.

Buckeye - push-pull; at that length we're fouling the east switch at Frostburg.  We turned 501 for show.  We also tacked on an "open air" car this weekend, which was well received.  They don't show me the cards.  And I typically only hear when there is a complaint.

Mornin folks!

Well, it's 67 at the moment...nice change finally! Slept in this am, the State Fair wore me out. Corn dog, funnel cake, and steak on a skewer made the day. Adult beverages!

Fife - nice! So the big crowds are for cooler weather and leaves. Enjoy!

Well, this just sucks.

Lady Firestorm had to take emergency leave from work and head up to New Jersey.  Her brother Jack, who's been battling lymphoma for the past year, is coming to the end of the line.  The treatments are useless at the point, and she and her siblings are gathering to visit him as he's not expected to last the year, possibly not even the month.  He's been moved to hospice care.

It's a shame, he was a nice man and fun to be with, and will be missed.  Lady F is understandably upset but is holding up very well indeed.  For now I'm "holding the fort" here at home.

Sorry to bum everyone out, but I just needed to talk.  Any sentiments I can pass along from the CTT family will be appreciated, they'll help.

Again, this just sucks, what what can you do?  The "Night Train" comes for us all, sooner or later.

So sorry to hear that about your BIL Flintlock. Feel free to let it out, sometimes it is the best thing you can do at a time like this. Angel

Nice fall weather on The North Bluff today, cool but lots of sun. Trees are turning pretty fast now. Cleaned the AC unit this morning and installed the winter cover. Next will be to put out the heated bird bath. They are calling for 30s at night by the weekend. Tongue Tied

Wife set up her apt for that cyst thing they saw on the MRI for early Nov. Hope it is nothing?

Flintlock, Prayers for your BIL. Hopefully Hospice will help make him comfortable as the end approaches. Be sure that Lady Firestorm is able to share some hugs and let him know how much he is loved and appreciated.

The Renal Cell Carcinoma board where I spend a lot of time, unfortunately it has a far larger roster of participants then here, lost two of our brothers this past weekend. Yesterday was a very dark day for both patients and caregivers. The pain that the patient goes thru ends when they cross over. But the caregiver's pain, whether that be spouse/ significant other/ family members or very good friends, goes on afterward for a longer period sometimes much longer.

Damn I hate this disease, here I thought I was all cried out yesterday but I guess not.

Good Morning!!

Yankees complete the sweep.....I'm just hoping the Rays and 'stros beat each other up sufficiently to stagger into the next round.....don't care which team.....

Relief Meeting last night was done by 730 ish, had to do a few errands and back home to fall asleep on the couch....did see Severino  get out of 2 innings worth of base runners with none crossing home plate.

Mom's 83rd Birthday today, Dad has consult with radiologist at 4, I may not be home in time, have Line/Exec meeting at 630, may run there, complete the bills and go home for Mom.  We're having lunch on Saturday for Mom's Birthday.

Rained last night, still wet, yesterday was 80, today 60.....showers the rest of the week....the kids are leaving for Florida on Thursday, Jenni is taking them to the airport early AM, so we will be house sitting until Tuesday next week.

Flintlock - Prayers for your BIL, that sucks, please pass my sympathies to your Mrs. We've been dealing with Dad's Lymphoma and Renal Cancer for 18 years now with the latest on his shoulder muscles.  He soldiers on and we do what we can, mostly it's up to the doctors.  He is a tough guy and won't go down without a fight.

2 on the desk, waiting for more soon...I hope...

Morning gang!

Well, still 64 at this time and thoroughly enjoying it! Sunny. Another front this weekend will supposedly take us into highes in the 60's Sat/Sun. Son was not able to go to State Fair with us last weekend so he and I are planning to go Fri.

Continued prayers for those in need.

Banks - safe and fun travels! Sorry I will miss York this fall but lots going on here with the wedding (expenses!).

York is definitely going back to a 2 day show Fri/Sat starting in the spring. Read that on Clem's York Primer on the Eastern Div website.

Thanks all so much for your thoughts and prayers!

Sadly, Lady F's brother passed away last night, it was a mercy, he went off with a minimum of pain and suffering.

When funeral arrangements are finalized I'll be heading up to New Jersey and will be "off the air", in a manner of speaking, for several days.  So if you don't see my My 2 Cents  worth on any topic for a while that'll be the reason.

Again, thanks to you all, and I hope all's well with you!

Hello there from Delaware Seashore State Park.

Flintlock...condolences and prayers for you and yours

Rainy and windy here due to an off shore storm.

Pleasant trip down yesterday with a side trip to Martinsburg WV to buy some exterior stain for the house that contains VOC not available in PA, MD, DE and a few other states. I know it's good stuff, did the house with it a couple of times.  Last was 14 years ago and still doesn't look half bad with no peeling. The oil really soaks in and protects.

Not sure what the rest of the day will bring. Definitely some reading in between naps.

Prayers for those in need.

Spanky, I'll be up in the Paramus area sometime Friday afternoon through Monday, probably leaving Monday morning.

Thanks for the condolances, and to all the rest of you for your prayers and best wishes!  You're the best!

And thank goodness Linda's "only" got Lyme disease.  I have to put quotes around the only since Lyme disease isn't something to sneeze at in itself, but it sure beats the other diagnosis!

I'd bug spray the bejeezus out of the yard if I were you.  Some chemical warfare on those little monsters sounds like it's called for!

Yeah, I figured that Spank, it's that flashing "time and temp" on the bottom of the your comments with Wayne NJ.  A dead givaway!

I'd like to arrange a visit but I don't think that'll be possible, the wake and services will be dominating my time.  Got to stick by the wife's side, that's my job and as it should be.

Per your neighbors, it's been 32 years since I've lived in NJ but to my recollection it's illegal by NJ game law to deliberately feed deer.  If they show up and eat your rhododendrons that's one thing, purposely putting out food for them is something else.

Not that you should rat out your neighbors and start a war, but deer DO carry ticks, and ticks carry "you-know-what."

I'd spray the yard anyway.  Even if you don't get 'em all getting some is better than nothing.

Evening folks!

Partly sunny today. 87 right now, and 91 for tomorrow, then 58 high for Friday - wow!

Went and got my flu shot and the second seniors pneumonia shot this morning, so the shoulders hurt a bit. Tomorrow, if up for it, go and get the Shingrex shingles shot. Wife got it and her arm/shoulder ached for 2 days.

Still working on the std ga project for the museum in NY. Having to replace something that was not supposed to be an issue, so this is on me. So far I have two weeks of half days into this.

Busted a knuckle on my right hand trying to pull a part out of the lathe that jammed - and a sharp tool bit provided the backstop, piercing the top of the knuckle on my right hand. Swollen/fluids, big time, stiff, and hurts...oh well...medicating myself with some 10yr Bulleit Bourbon...oh the pain!

DonB, Dennis, Ray, and Dougsnotta - glad you guys do not live in the rural areas where PG&E is cutting the power to 800,000. Wowzers!

Anj - man that is tough about your dad and so glad he is handling it well. My mom in her last days, not so great, but we did not blame her for that.

DJ - man, tough! Glad the ms skated the really serious possibilities. Prayers!

Astros struggling against the Rays - 2-2. Hope for best for Stros for game 5 tomorrow!

Evening All,

Buckeye, Congrats on the 2nd table!  With everything else you got going on that is a heck of an achievement!  The pictures are really fantastic!

Dougdg, Good to see you in the spirit, no doubt you must have a lot of kid followers!  Going to have to schedule a run down to show you the pictures I took on my trip.

Flintlock, Sorry to hear about your BIL, Condolences and Prayers for you and your family!

Spank, Sooooo Very Glad Linda's eye issue is manageable, and NOT as bad as originally thought!  It had to be really tough riding that roller coaster!  I agree with the pesticide approach, and ensure she takes all the antibiotics.

Anjdevil, Sorry that your Dad is going through such agony!  Prayers that something positive will rapidly develop for him.

SJ, Sure  hope you have a spotter for all the ladder work your doing!  Just be careful and don't get too aggressive.

Banks, Isn't it getting late in the year to be planning on putting stain on the house?  Esp not even being home?  8-)

Roy, Any chance the NY museum would consider selling that engine?  It would be a great conversation piece in your collection.  Sorry to hear about your hand, looks like you've got the right remedy in place.

Regarding the power outages, I'm not sure it is just Northern Cal., SCE has also announced that they are cutting power to a number of areas in So Cal..  Near the San Gabriel Mtn, Riverside, & San Bernardino Counties.  And there talking as long as 3-5 days!

RT, How many guys do you have working on your train room?  With all the progress you got to have an army in there.  Really lookin good.

Got the El Camino back today, and it really looks great!  The seats were completely rebuilt, and can't believe how much higher I'm setting.  And it looks pretty good too.  Was well worth it!
Changed over our Internet/TV/Phone service from Frontier(FIOS), to Spectrum.  I think we are going to realize about $100/mth savings.  As expected some minor +/- 's , but should work out good.  Just a little frustrating the monthly equipment rental fees, then when service is cancelled they don't want them returned, "Just give them to a Recycler" ????
Making some progress on my custom awning job for MIL, slow tedious work.  Have one of four 80% complete.  Hopefully it will work.

About it from here, going to see if I can make a post on CTT.

Be Safe and Stay Healthy

Wow, it works!!

Been trying to get on for 2 days.....

Had to meet Jenni in Bordentown, I left my computer in the Magnum, I have the kid's Jetta as they have landed in FLA USA until Tuesday.  Jenni's going to get the Magnum serviced it is WAAAAAAY over due.
So I'm a wee bit off schedule.  Sucks, but I'm not up at 0600 in the AM to think of these things......

Got my ration of $hit this morning from the Flyer faithful after my Devils got shut out in Philly last night.  Insult to injury at this point....

Monthly meeting tonight, should be fun considering I missed the Line/Exec meeting on Tuesday.

55F with SUN right now, should hit 60 later.  May get some 2 wheel therapy Saturday, I have to run to the Credit Union in Hamilton.

Thanks for the prayers for Dad.....tough sledding right now, but more information should come about later today.

Evening folks!

Pretty warm and hoomid today, 91. The big 'front' is not taking us into the 50's tonight as originally hesterically presented by our weather wonks. Now 60's like the last one.

Still working on the std ga tender rebuild. With my busted up right hand (think it is a bone bruise) I am working at quarter speed...

DJ - attic complete

Chiefs 11,000 steps, easy when you're lost in the woods...

Congrats to Buckeye - today is the one year anniversary of the kickback job he has, playing golf, attending dinners, having to drink adult beverages...

Continued prayers for Anj's dad Angel

Hello there,

Prayers for Buckeye

windy with high tides here. Water got about an inch deep around our camper. Didn't reach the next site. I'm guessing about a foot around the deepest ones. Walked over to the inlet this morning and watched the surf.

Planning to do nothing the rest of today..

Yesterday was a trip to Assateaque to see the horses and a short walk on the beach. Then late lunch in Berlin MD followed by a visit to both Toy Town locations, came away empty handed.

Time for a nap before lunch.

Prayers for those in need

TGIF

Regular meeting went without a hitch, nominations for offices and officers next month...should be a doozy....lol

Devils loose in a shoot out 4-3, still winless.  Yanks face the 'Stros in Houston tomorrow night 8 PM.  THIS will be an epic series......

Nothing on Dad yet, will check in today.  Mom's birthday lunch tomorrow.

After work, will be bringing the extra train stuff downstairs for evaluation and up for sale, possibly Craigslist.  I hate e-bay......and Facebook Market Place is a huge waste of time.

Car show on Sunday.  housework in there somewhere, while the kids are away....

NJ Transit is jumping on the Heritage Unit bandwagon... So far an ALP is PRR decorated, a GP-38 is Jersey Central Blue and there is a third that escapes me.

Hope Buckeye is ok......
Prayers for all in need......

Back later

Prayers for Buckeye! And for all those in need Angel

44 this am, it was 92 yesterday afternoon! Some badly needed rain started with the front last night and just ended a while ago. The ms and I sat out on the back porch watching the lightening storm/rain as the front rolled through.

Knuckle on right hand is a bit better this morning, I can bend the finger some!

Buckeye, glad you are back home! Heal up quickly! Angel

A beaut of a day here with sun and 60's,! mid-70's tomorrow.

Our internet went out yesterday. The tech today found someone working on the new fiber system yesterday disconnected the line to our side of the street. Since the system is new, we are the only folks on our street on the new high speed fiber.

Mornin' boys.  Crisp 37 degrees along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Big train yesterday; bigger today.  Youngest Princess is home for the weekend, and I've been getting my daddy-daughter time in when I can.

Got to Michael's, and picked up some artist acrylic paints for my layout's waterways.  Also picked up the Lemax Sugar Plum Bakery (thanks to Wifey), for the North Pole display.

Buckeye - Glad you are back home.  Speedy recovery.  I'm sure Bob Keller will approve the Pacemaker, since he loves all things NYC...  Take it easy, Sir.

Great news Buckeye!!!  Yes

Nice fall weather here on The North Bluff above Marseilles and starting to dry out. Grand-kids are coming over this evening to spend the night and hang out here tomorrow rather than spend the day in day care. We will have some fall fun things to do.

Should also run some trains.

Best get!

Evening All,

I just received a text message from Roy, He is currently in the hospital!  As most of you may recall he had an incident when he was macheing a part on a lathe this past week.  He jammed his knuckle on the cutting tool.  He ended up going to ER today, and they determined he had a infection going on.  As a result he is on an IV for antibiotics, and they are keeping him overnight.  He is scheduled to see an Orthopedic Surgeon tomorrow.  (Mon).  He indicated in his message, that he was not reachable via phone or may not be able to post for a couple of days.  (If I hear any more from him, I will definitely pass it on.)

Locally, we are escaping any issues regarding the fires, the active ones in So. Cal., are about 60 miles from us, North and East.  We did have a small earthquake thrown in for fun yesterday, it was a small one only 2.5, and it was a sharp jolt, not a rolling one.  Did have a big mess from the Santa Ana winds and all the fallout from neighbors trees.  Ended up clogging the pool filter system, and water supply lines.  Got that all cleaned up and cleared out today.

About all from here.

Don

Afternoon All,

I did hear from Roy, the Orthopedic Dr, worked on the knuckle doing a "simple" clean and drain, apparently that did not do great.  So they are waiting a day and may require another Dr., to operate on it for joint repair.  That decision will be made on Wed..  Meanwhile he will be staying in the Hosp, so far he has had 4 bags of antibiotics via IV so far.
Hopefully, the antibiotics may have a significant improvement in the next 24 hrs..

Watched the finish of the rain delayed Nascar race (Talledaga), today.  Wow WHAT an exciting race!!!  It was unique in so far as the Manufacturers getting involved with their specific drivers, coercing them to "work" together.  And that had a lot of influence IMO of how the race played out!

Prayers for all those having health issues!!

Evening All,

Roy Update -- Got a text message as follows:  "They are giving me 5 IV antibiotic bags a day.  It has not improved today.  Guess tomorrow will tell.  The surgeon is supposed to come by according to his PA.  I have no assurance of that so hope it is true.  They are really hoping the antibiotics knock this out but we think it has abscessed."

I haven't talked with him, but I know its got to be tough stuck in the hospital, especially with his daughters wedding coming up, and all the preps that need to be done.  Hopefully tomorrow will have more definite plans and strategy on his treatment.  Continued Prayers.

Well York is really getting close!  Hope everyone has double checked the shopping list, and visited the bank, and got fresh cushions for the shoes.  Oh yeah may need to check the weather forecast.  IF it wasn't so far away I would try going, just to see those who do.  Can't think of a thing I would buy, just don't have space anymore.

Had a great day today, was in the garage and a tree trimming truck pulled up to the neighbors house!  They are going to get some trees finally trimmed!!  You wouldn't believe how overgrown they are, I've been cutting branches off my roof.  This past weekend all the dried leaves and twigs clogged up our pool.  And we have had many more issues, finally after repeated discussions with them, and even a little more abrasive this past week they are finally doing something!  Hurray

Take care all, and be safe!

Aloha all. Cold and dark this morning. Nothing too new in my world except work busyness and my 11th parents' night at the local high school. Ivor gets his legs stretched occasionally as does his Hornby clockwork companions. I continue to mess around with the layout - mostly shrinking it a bit closer to the edge from its largest size (that was 24 by 19 ft.) Prayers for Roy's recovery and Linda's tap to go smoothly and painless.

Good Morning from overcast 50°F Southern Ohio,

The temps are to drop all day into the low 40’s.  Been absent from the pot for a week or so due to too much stuff between work at work and work at home.  Today is my annual Hazmat refresher training so I’m not in charge and can actually relax a little.  I’ll be in Level A response suit and on SCBA the rest of the day for evaluation.

Prayers for Buckeye and Roy.

Got to go

May God bless you and your families

Roy...Hope you are doing well?

DJ...My grandson from NJ attended OSU-Rutgers Basketball game two years ago. He wore his Scarlett and Gray National Championship sweatshirt to the game. Glad the tap went well. I hate those things.

I had just completed the second table for the layout before heading to the hospital. All work suspended for 2-3 weeks.

Evening All,

Roy Update -- Got a text message as follows: "They worked on my knuckle in the room today. Ugly.  Physically draining.  He could not quite get all of the goop out.  Having to soak it more and try to keep the wound open and draining.  Mainlining antibiotics."

Talked with Roy briefly last night, he seemed in relatively good spirits, a little frustration was quite evident.  He also commented that he had a very nice private room, and the food was pretty good.  Also all his nurses are RN's, so he's not doing to bad, but I''m sure he doesn't want to be there.

Finished the Awnings today (MIL), going to install them tomorrow, after my Dr visit at the VA.  Just found out all vets can now get a 10% discount from AMTRAK.  :)

BUCKEYE, GREAT PROGRESS ON THE LAYOUT, NOW YOU HAVE TIME FOR A GOOD DESIGN REVIEW FOR THE LAYOUT PLAN, AND BUILD PLANS!  Great to hear the new ticker is working well.  It doesn't use 9 Ghz, does it?

Mornin' boys.  Cool, damp, and blustery in the Potomac Highlands.  Still busy on the train, and crazy busy on the weekends.  Folks complaining about the parking, but many simply fail to utilize the free parking garage, blocks away.  Something the city and Canal Place folks need to hammer out in the eventuality the steam engine comes on line.

Yesterday was my day off, and travelled to Sheperdstown to pick up youngest princess.  Had nice veggie lasagna at a local restaurant.  Girls will be headed to Pittsburgh for a bridal shower.

Continued well wishes for our sick and infirmed.

cnw1995 - Thanks for checking in; was beginning to wonder "Why don't he write?"  Still haven't been able to sell the yatchett yet.

Happy Friday Eve as my boss puts it...lol

Took the Princess to work in Philly yesterday and got home at 745 last night from 0500 yesterday morning.  In the midst of the "storm".  Doing this at night with rain absolutely sucks.  The rain makes driving just stupid and the highways are filled with dumb masses.....I'm just glad I took her instread of her doing this solo....

Had dinner, spoke with the folks and ran to bed.

Windy today and 60...if that.  Weekend supposedly already booked, I know we have to see Jenni's Dad on Sunday for his birthday.  Saturday we need to see a guy about her trunk lid.  Live burn with the FD is scheduled for Saturday morning, I may not be able to go.  I have a lot to get done before Halloween, including doing Mom and Dad's house.

Prayers for all in need, Dad is still status quo, CAT Scan today, Iron and Chemo infusion yesterday.  Found out some interesting information on his Chills/Hot spells.....

Just got my system back up, let's see what happens today.....

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Hello there,

glad to see Roy is free.

Yesterday Mrs and I  traveled to  Lancaster. Visited a couple of outlets, a thrift shop and  dined at Miller's smorgasbord before returning to York. Slept late this AM, ate an early lunch then headed to the show. Took my time and walked silver,  blue,  red and white halls.

Picked up 3 mint in box red box era Tyco cars, a Gilbert loco with matching caboose and a prewar 653 hopper. All for $50. The Tyco guy was priced to sell, Gilbert guy didn't know what he had and the 653 was well loved. Back to the camper Mrs had supper ready, crashed for a while, before a shower.

Meeting John F at Cracker Barrel in the morning, walk orange and purple halls before a photo op at the CTT booth. By then I'll probably be ready to go to the camper and make ready for the trip home Saturday.

Tentatively meeting a former coworker at ROC Dinner tomorrow evening for dessert.

Best try to sleep.

Evening Guys,

Glad to hear Roy has been released!

Hope all the Yorkies have decent weather, and finds everything they are looking for.

Kay got some interesting mail today, she got a letter from AARP, expressing their condolences over the loss of her spouse!  Kay called and ultimately got to the correct person whom stated they received a notice of loss on Sept 30.  And that I had been removed from the account.  So apparently I am deceased, and missed my own funeral!  Hmm

That's about all I know for the day

Morning folks!

Sunny and will hit 80's today.

I have followup orthopedist visit 9 am Mon. I have a week or so of recovery on the right hand. Somewhat painful but managing with OTC pain meds. The procedure on the knuckle was pretty brutal and I think it injured the tendon.

Good Evening from an overcast 54°F Southern Ohio,

I started putting the sealer on the garage and will get to the house next week.  I’m taking a few days off and hope to get most of the house sealed.  The house has cedar siding and it is all washed down and the change is remarkable.

A local pool contractor is bringing the leftover dirt from the pool installations in town and helping me build up part of the ravine.  He has brought around 20 tons up.

So all this has kept me pretty busy.

My bride went to her neck surgeon and he has given her a clean slate and does not need to see her again.  Praise God.

Roy – I hope your hand is doing better.

Buckeye – your layout is going to be really impressive.

Don – How are you going to prove you’re alive?

Banks and other Yorkies – have a great time and be safe.

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Jim

Mornin' boys.  Rain and 49 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Wifey returns from Steeltown today.  Had dinner at my folks' place, and started painting their sun room.

Record crowds again this weekend at the RR.  Stark difference to the nothing burgers of Spring and Summer.  Wound up cleaning up vomit on one of the coaches, after nobody else would step up.  This bunch...

Hope the Yorkies make it home safe and happy.  Miss yuz guyz.

Hello there,

back from York in time for 430 Mass yesterday

A good day Friday. Mrs and I had breakfast with Mr & Mrs John Fullerton.

Breakfast

Then off to the show. John and I walked Orange Hall before he had to leave for an organ recital his Mrs was participatng in. He was pretty well wupped anyway.

Later found Laz and Mitch.

CTT Pot

Since we were the only ones Mrs took the picure. We chewed the fat for a few and went on our way. I doubled back through Orange to take a 2nd look at a couple of things then went to silver hall and tried and buy a Gilbert caboose at a reasonable price. I know the guy has brought three of them to York for at least three years but won't budge on price. By then I was ready to leave. Mrs & I Ate at McD's then to the camper and crashed for a while. Later met a former coworker and family at ROC for dinner. The place was packed. Her daughter lives in York and the rest of the family was in town for her son to visit a potential college.

The return trip yesterday was uneventful. Watching the littlest grandaughters today and trying to get a few things done before Tuesday's Prostate roto rooter puts me out of commission for a while.

My haul from York

Haul

Best move on,

Prayers for those in need

PS...........Fife the Altoona show is Nov 3rd. You gona be able to make it???????

Good morning,
Hope Roy and family are okay. Those tornadoes are nothing to mess with. Drives me nuts to watch the stupid things people do when one is heading their way. And the weather forecasters are the dumbest of all standing out in it trying to take pictures and telling people to get out of the way???.
The weather here is 60s and very strong winds pushing the same front that got Roy through our area. We had a good rain overnight that we did not need. I would say we are about one week from peak leaves color but with this wind they are falling like mad right now.
Nice haul Banks, sounds like you had a good trip. Best of luck with the Prostate roto rooter. Surprise
Time to get.

Afternoon Greetings from Tornado Alley  - literally!

In daylight, neighborhood looks like a war zone. Police and State police have blocked all entrances to our neighborhood. Have to show ID to enter.

Front window (large) of our house was pierced by a large 4" tree limb that apparently came flying down the street from a tree at a neighbors house several doors away. Big mess and a lotta glass all over the room along with dirt, leaves, water, etc. my trees - nada - no damage.

Thought we were experiencing a baseball sized hail storm from the pounding on the roof and breaking glass (Had this happen in 2004 And it sounded exactly the same). Went out after the storm and saw no hail stones, no damage to sons car in front, but lotta big tree limbs piled up against the front of our house (and the one through the window). Dirt and leaves embedded in everything.

A street and a half over, one house (good friend of ours) was flattened. 6 or so or others have little to no roof. Neighbors with skylights on our block all lost their skylights in round one. Round two was 50-70 mph winds and 3" of screaming rain. So round 2 nailed them with the big roof openings.

Our friend survived the storm in her demolished house unscathed. But she is shell shocked. Just lost her husband 5 yrs ago and his slow demise was draining.

There are no tall trees left. Tops Shredded.

Roofer we know came to inspect a house down the block. Got him to stop here. No peeled shingles but a lot of aggregate loss from the hail, winds, and driving rain. Roof will need replacing. Pool full of leaves, limbs, and shingles. Kids worked on cleaning it out until the leaf bag broke from the weight.

Future In-laws showed up at 7:30 am to help clean up. Nice of them.

Regards, Roy

Long day. Got the front room where the window blew in cleaned up of leaves, glass (4'x4' double pane), dirt, etc. Got the yard cleanup completed. Pool is next. Huge debris pile in front of the house as with much of the neighborhood. Most of the debris is from all the big oak trees that were shredded. Most houses here had 3 big oaks 40+ years old, 18'-36" trunks. For some reason city has not started picking up the tree debris and it is now outta hand. Once folks start throwing home debris it is gonna get really bad.

Hello there from UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Roy.....good luck with the cleanup

Doc said rotor rooter went well. The issues were caused by scarring from December's rotorooter. Claims there should be no more problems.

Daghters  surgery went well yesterday too and she went home. Found out the day we left for the beach that she was having her ovaries removed today also.

She asked to postpone but they refused. She says no but Mrs and I fear cancer is involved. Especially since they were in such a rush.

Been killing time trying to find something decent on TV, cruising Ebay and Youtube looking for anything interesting.

Hoping to get home today without a catheter.

Gotta go

I'm still on the mend. Still can't drive due to me passing out so suddenly and unexpected. Mrs. Buckeye says it is like driving Mr. Daisy. I really don't see the humor.

 Good news Banks!

Roy the two weeks after we lost our house in the 1990 Plainfield tornado were the most stressed of my life. It will pass.  Angel

Getting ready to take wifey in for her hip injection. Hope it helps her some till it can be replaced. The good news yesterday is her biopsy results came back clean! Yes

Got to get moving.

Great news about Sandra Kev!

No big issues here. We were lucky. Minimal damage here and my 15 yr old 40 yr roof may have to be replaced. About 20' of back fence steel poles are bent about 20 degrees. May try and use the sons Jeep to pull them up straight.

Amazing the number of fences down, steel poles snapped off at ground level.

Our pool guy was able to come and that is almost done. We are pulling bushels of acorns out of the pool and yard. Neighbor ins agent said the billions of acorns are responsible for the hail like roof shingle damage. Neighbors have said all are surprised at the bushels of acorns they are picking up.

Good morning,

Things are better on The North Bluff!
As most know Sandra had two spine injections two weeks ago and that helped some but she still has the bone on bone hip pain. Then they found that cyst on her ovary when they did the spine and hip MRIs and had to do an ultrasound and biopsy on that last week. Like I said, those results came back Tuesday clean. So yesterday they did the hip injection just to help her till it gets replaced. Won't know how that helps for a day or two but as of this morning she seems way better. We hope the replacement can be done before the holidays or at least Christmas. I want to get it done before the end of year and all the Ins charges start over. We are almost at max out of pocket now and those hips are not cheap. So progress on the home front. Big Smile
I spent yesterday afternoon making the tunnel through Ravine 1 large enough for the new Gator to fit through. I had to raise the canopy for the roof of the Gator to clear so I got a heck of a lot of brush for Jim's bonfire.  Yes

Prayers and hope for those who need them.

Best do something.

Good Morning,
Been awhile, We are doing fine out here, Kay got a sympathy card from AARP and a new ID card. :D   But that's been about it, I was thinking about going over to the local office and applying for life insurance.

The Santa Ana winds are kicking up again, so the fire threat is extremely high for the foothills and normal areas.  SCE has threatened turning off power for some 300k people in the threat area.  (Wouldn't be surprised if some disgruntled person sets a fire deliberately out of revenge, hope not but you can't tell).

The neighbor to my east has hired a tree trimming service, and are they ever making a difference!  The jungle in the back yard is gone!  That has taken 2 days!  Today they are finishing up on area between our houses and huge tree in the driveway area.  As it turns out I found out the city gave them a citation requiring the trimming of trees in the front of their house, because the house was not visible from the street.  (I had nothing to do with the cities efforts.)  Then to my surprise the foreman told me that the neighbor on our west side told me he was going to be trimming trees for them on Friday!  That is great, will be wonderful not having all the fall-out in the pool!  I think we will end up being exposed here.  Another benefit is there should be a significant decline in the critters using our place as a thorough fare between the two.

Finished my awning project, finally.  It looks pretty good!

Also, got some good news, Chris' car was involved in an accident, (at a dual left turn lane, the car on the right ran into the passenger side).  The other driver's insurance finally accepted responsibility, damage estimated at $12k.  So it is finally going to get fixed.  (Accident happened while I was in PA)

Think I going to start working on Chris' old room, repaint etc..

Glad to hear Banks and Buckeye is doing well, and continued prayers for Rich's Dad, Doug DG, Kevin's wife, Spanky's wife, Roys families and others.

Take care all and be safe!

Good morning all!

44 this am! Snowed in Amarillo yesterday/last night. Constant rain since yesterday around noon. Supposed to rain all day today. Most of the heavily damaged houses have tarps over them. Those with roof damage have tarps nailed to the roofs. Almost all the folks on our street have some roof damage. We only have scraped up shingles where tree limbs and pieces of houses/roofs hit our house. No shingle loss. Ins adjuster shows up next Wed.

DonB - good news re the trees, Chris' car, and your continued view from the other side!

Kev - glad to hear further promising news from your camp! Angel

Banks - prayers for you and your daughters healing!

Buckeye - beware of any get well packages from NC...Whistling

Evening folks!

Sunny and made it to 76 today. Same predicted tomorrow.

Finally saw a storm debris cleanup truck late today. Neighborhood is a mess to navigate.

We had a nice dinner for sons 26 th bday at a sushi/Japanese restaurant. Cake at the house after and some time chatting with the kids re final wedding prep. Wedding is just 2 weeks away now.

Spent the day cleaning up a room stacked up from sons move back to the house last Jan. Consolidated the remnants of 9 moving boxes into clothes for Goodwill, trash, and just 5 smaller bankers boxes of stuff he is keeping. A bonus was I found a box of daughters shoes and she took that home after the bday celebration.

Good Monday Morning…..

Friday night went out with the BIL and sister for a cocktail, stayed for 2 songs from the band and left. Small venue and amps up to 11 = ringing ears. Yes, they were a good band, just the ears cannot tolerate ear bleeding volume.

Saturday, we got 1 portable garage up and the roadrunner now has a dry home. Will try to get the 2nd one up within the next 2 weeks. Jenni’s car goes in for surgery before Thanksgiving, so we need to get it up before then. Saturday night we attended a bonfire with one of the car clubs and that was a great time, it sprinkled most of the night.

Sunday full blown rain and wind in the morning, and the garage was stable and dry. Even the blacktop. Should be able to get the Vespa in the garage, the Road Star may be another issue. Jenni’s Charger will just barely get in, but with the vinyl sheeting, we have some movement.

Sunday night we ran down to Manahawkin for her niece’s birthday and was home by 10. Weather did clear up at 2 and the Sun came out.

Tonight after dinner, will meet up with a vendor I purchased a repainted Blue Comet engine body. It was cheap enough, especially with free delivery.

Oh, FYI – Michael’s has O scale Christmas wreaths, they match perfectly for front of houses or businesses, just not “door” size”. We stopped there briefly yesterday.

Gotta run out work calls.

Prayers for those in need – Roy, nice that the cleanup has begun….

Good morning,
Boy a lot of slackers out there, hardly no posters over the weekend?
Wife is improving with the shot in the hip for now. They have her hip replacement set for December 4th as of today. She has a lot to do before they can do it, she has to have a physical and EKG before hand and get fitted with a walker for after surgery.
We got almost 4” of nu-needed rain on Saturday so the world is soaked and the farmers are stopped in their tracks on the harvest. They are calling for snow on Halloween. Surprise Looks like they will be cranking up the grain dryers this year to get it done.
I snuck out of town on Saturday and went to Plainfield and shot the breeze and had a few beers with the guys in Jeff’s garage.Beer Beer  Been almost a year since I had seen some of those guys.
Yesterday afternoon I managed to sweep and burn some leaves but they did not want to burn as wet as they were. We are at peak about now so the leaves will be falling like mad from here on out.
Roy good to hear your neighborhood is getting cleaned up. That stuff takes time, I know.
Best get.

Evening folks!

Gray and drizzly today...70's. They are claiming a big temp drop mid week...we'll see.

Daughter, wife, and I heard to the adult beverages store to pick up the wine and beer for the wedding. A quick calculation says adding $10 to each guest's cover charge will cover it....

Lost another 2 hours of my life on phone with AT&T on a 'simple' activation...

Dennis - so glad the fires are not affecting our west coast friends. Agree with Chief - wish we had some news re Ray.

Kev - continued prayers for Sandra!

Had a nice talk with Banks today re his metal lathe and some things he is trying to work on.

Neighbor behind us is already getting his roof replaced....me....still Waitin on State Farm adjuster...tried to dump them years ago but it is not possible with the discount structures all the ins cos have in place....

Roy, State Farm will never get even with us. They were one of the best after the tornado here, Paid up for everything but they all take time. You wanted to get screwed,,, Alstate was the place. Just hang in there and at the end of the day ask your neighbors and you will know who is good and who is bad for your area. Then maybe make a change , but State Farm has been good to us. We have them for everything. But they are from here so I don't know how they work in other states?? If anyone , bragges they got paid their full amount of their INS,,,,they were under insured. Wink

We were luckey we had a video of Katie's 2nd birthday 3 months before to watch because they knocked down our house two weeks after the tornado. Sandra went through the video and spent about a month and a half. You can't beleve the things you forget you have when it is all gone. She made 56 pages of stuff in the house to claim and it got us a extra $57,000 in the claim, so the thing is always have records and pictures of what you have and doing the work pays off.

Evening,

I am very sad to pass on information of the passing of "Council Raymond Sugg III".

Since Ray has not posted on any of the forums recently, I thought I would try to give him a call, there was no pick-up.  Then this evening I was thinking more about it and knew his health wasn't great and thought maybe I should pursue.  I did a Google search on his name and found the following;

Ray Sugg  (Obituary posted by his son.)

Sorry to be the bearer of such news.  Ray was the epitome of a TRUE SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN!  He will certainly be missed!

Rest In Peace,  RAY

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 41 in Slackerville.

Sad to hear of SPMan's passing.  Hopefully he's in a better place, with familiar faces.

Final week of Fall Foliage train trips, then a momentary breather to get geared up for the Polar Express.  I'll be behind the scenes, but not in red.

Sad news about SP-Ray......very sad.  He lived his dream and that is wonderful!

Status quo on Dad, I think he is suffering from radiation poisoning, sees the radiaologist today, new meds arrive about 10 EDT, Oncologist tomorrow, Chemo Thursday.

Picked up my "Blue Comet" repro body and some rods for my 259E last night, very nice people.  She is moving some of ther Dad's Lionel pieces as he is downsizing and looking to move some stuff.  There may be other perchases in the offing, just need to see what he has.  Now if I can find some Pacific running gear.....

Rain and 55 today so far, took the Princess to work, this ordeal was 2.5 hours from home to Philly to my job, so I was on time, by my watch I was 40 minutes late.  Usually it's an hour 10.  People loose there minds when it rains.

Off to work.............

Hello there

RIP Ray.........

Been so busy doin nuttin I haven't taken the time to post. Mrs and I did put out a few Halloween decorations (better late than never) today.

I feel fine, it's hard to remember no lifting over 10lb. Been reading a lot. Finally dug out the 259E purchased a couple of years ago. I bought parts from Jeff Kane shortly after I got it and never got to it til now. The collector plate needs replaced. I found I need a tool to spread the frame to remove it. Called Roy yesterday looking for advice on that and repairs to my lathe that's been disassembled for a year or so.

We got 2 1/2 inches of needed rain overnight Saturday most of it between 6 and 7AM. Getting ready for Mass Sunday something didn't sound right. Found water running profusely out of the light fixture in one of the empty bedrooms. By the time I got several garbage cans and buckets in place in the attic the rain was over. I knew the roof needed some attention but it's way worse than I thought. It's a metal roof that was old when Dad bought the place in '56. It was painted a couple of times with Agway aluminized roof coating, most recently in the 90s.

One contractor showed up yesterday.  Had an estimate already prepared.  Seems they measure the roof via Google Earth images. I'm a bit skeptical of his 10K quote. A neighbor had a much smaller 20 foot lower roof without the dormers and gables this house has plus they put the metal over shingles with no tear off at a cost of 6.8K.
I questioned him about his statement of putting roofing felt then 2x4 purlins over the existing joists with lath every 8 inches and he said let me talk to my installer.
A young Amish man stopped this afternoon. By the questions he asked he seemed a lot more knowledgeable than the 1st one. Promised a quote this week. Another guy coming tomorrow. Kinda surprised by the response I've gotten.

The rain brought most of the leaves down. A lot less this year due to losing my ash trees.  Yesterday son came and put the leaf sucker on the Gravely. I got the bulk of them in the trailer and Mrs dug them out of the trailer in the garden. Round 2 when the rest come down.

Best get to bed.

Prayers for those in need

Good Morning,

Dennis, You can turn that email notification off, IF you go into the settings, located at the top left of the sign in page.  It took me awhile to figure it out, but there is a "box" you need to uncheck.  Also, hope you are not affected by the power outages, and smoke, much less the fire.  Will be good when the next couple of days pass!

I remember the visit at Ray's with Dennis, Chief, and myself, but thought many of you probably have not met Ray.  So I thought it would be fitting to post a couple of pictures of him and his layout.  He was quite involved with the Disneyland Dixie Land band, (incl Ward Kimbal).  In the center of the layout (behind Ray in the below pic, he had a picnic table.) he and his friends would meet weekly, socialize and run trains.  To acess that area he had two "duck-unders", since the guys were getting on in years, I offered to convert them to bridges.  He really appreciated that.  (Ended up with 1 bridge, and 1 lift out section, he didn't want me to change any track configuration.  Ray also had quite a collection of one of a kind Disney memorabilia.  RIP in Ray!

Below image is his pass station, the detail is really fantastic!
Out of view on left side is an Elevator and Gantry Bridges.
Both operational.

RT, a belated Happy Birthday wish, sorry to hear about the early pick-up, hope ADT is able to accommodate you.

Chief, Looks like a celebration is in order, nice days work.

Today maybe an exciting day, suppose to be getting 70 to 80 mph Santa Ana winds!  I don't think my area will be affected, but they are headed through the burn areas of course, and the northern side of the LA Basin.  Currently the NEWS is reporting 50 mph and it isn't even daylight yet.  Bad day to be out driving around!  Not to mention thousands have had their power shut off during the night.  LOTS of frustrated people.

Oh yeah, another crazy new thing!  At Chris' apartment house in Seal Beach, they announced a new service available.  Instead of using Lyft or Uber, you can now rent a car 24/7, car comes with insurance, gas, and everything.  Pick it up nearby and return it to same location when finished.  Cost is ONLY $45/mile, AND $135/month membership fee!!!!  Unbelievable.

Take care all and be safe!

Morning folks!

Temps headed to near freezing tonight. Pouring rain and big noisy t storms starting last night. Really big set hit at 5:30 this am. Hitting again as I type this. Weather 'pundits' stated a week ago (like last year and then we had wettest year on record) we were headed into a long dry spell. Been raining for 2 days so far. ..yard is a swamp...

DonB - nice tribute to Ray! Thank you! Glad the fires are away from you left coasters.

Had fun discussing 259 and lathe ideas with Banks!

Argh - Astros fell flat again last night...home field curse? Nats looking tough, peaking at right time (wrong time for me)....

Well it is winter here guys, woke up to 2" of snow with about 1" of rain on top. Had to go to Farm & Fleet and get some waterproof high top shoes. I put the plow on the Rusty Ranger yesterday and tested it out. Yes All worked as it should. They say tomorrow we will get maybe 4" more. Will be a bad night for the trick or treaters. Sad  Wink

Don, thanks for the pictures of Ray.

Chief, nice buck! Deer sausage and venison grits and grillades on the way. Laugh Ick!

Boo Y'all!  Still doing the month-long RR grind.  Spent my only day off painting my parents' sun room.  May have a buyer on the yatchett.

KRM - Is that plate before dinner, or after...? Laugh

Chief - We haven't seen our bear for over a month.  Perhaps he headed for Roleysburg.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Congrats to the 'Nats - Pitchers and catchers report in 4 months - Yankees vs Pirates Spring Training Feb 24th.....
Devils fall to the Lightning 7-6 in overtime.

Chief - Nice buck!

Raining here in Jersey - 70s today and should let up in time for trick or treating.  I'll have to get all the decorations up afterwards as there will be up to 50 MPH winds and I don't need to be chasing foam tombstones and plastic jack o'lanterns all night -

End of Month today and expect to be busy, so far just 2 and they are done.  Might have to jump on the internet for work, and I hate that.....

Dressed up for the occasion as a mechanic....yeah, I left my actual costume at the other house.  So, I'm at least comfortable in ripped jeans a mechanic shirt and  the appropriate hat on backwards.

Jenni seems to have come down with something......she's at her parents house, so not sure how the rest of the week and weekend are going to go.  Regardless, heading to Philadelphia on the 3rd for the Toy Run barring my falling ill.  Which I'm not interested in.

OK, off to work, let's see what else is gonna happen today

Prayers for all in need.....

Morning.  Warm, breezy and cloudy.

Shooting the deer was easy.  Dragging him out was the chore.  1/2 mile in.  Did get pickup backed in part of the way.  Lifting him in was not easy but had two extra helpers by then.

Errands today.

Hope all OK.

Evening folks!

Sunny, day started below freezing but warmed up nicely. Made it to 50. 60 tomorrow and then another front Sat and back to the 50's.

Spent day tidying up our AT&T accounts with duplicate services due to the new fiber installation. We will save around $130 per month and the new internet is twice the speed of the old. AT&T tried to upsell me from the new fiber 50 MB/s that is only $40 per month to 100 a 300 MB/s at much higher prices. The joke was on them, the old fiber only provided (at best) 15-20 MB/s - cost $50+ per month - and everything worked fine, inc son using online gaming stuff. So 50 MB/s (their base speed) is perfect and cheap.

Also got an older printer operational and on the home network.

Congrats to the Nats - Astros had nothing for them after their 3 runs. Pitching flat and as Joe Buck commented, and in my words, stop making the at bats a home run derby attempt and play some baseball, wh is "hit em where they ain't". Advance runners around the bases. That's was the Nats did with great skill last night.

Regards, Roy

Hello there,

not much goin on here lately. Everybody more to Facebook? ?

Scratched around the basement trying to come up with a spreading tool to work on my 259E. Nothing yet.

Studied my lathe some too. No easy solution. I think I'm going to put it back together. Leave a bit of slop between the carriage and bed and run it. Pap had it adjusted so tight it took a fair amount of effort to crank it. If the gear strips again I'll come up with a way to lower the rack.

Trick or Treating is rescheduled to tomorrow evening here. Last evening was hard rain and high winds.

Best go before I crash.

Prayers for those in need
