Morning.  Been working outside. Very humid.

Must be running billing or accounting.  This forum is slow as snail ---- this AM [compared to the other forums I have visited].

More spraying and etc to do.  Cleaned Wifey's pond filter [that is always a mess].

Later.

Yep I gave up on posting.

Good evening from beautiful clear 62°F Southern Ohio.

I’ve not read or posted for a week or so.  Work has been crazy busy and I’ve spent my days off cleaning the cedar siding on our house in preparation for staining it.  It is looking really nice. I am pleased and surprised at how much lighter in color the house is. All I have left to clean is the porch railing and porch eaves.  One of the parishes I serve held its 150th annaversary today. Both priests all thee deacons and the Bishop was at the Mass. There was an antique tractor show a car show games lots of food fun and of course beer.

Restored the headlights on the Red Ranger.  The ranger is doing good. I’m going to replace some of the instrument cluster lights tomorow before going into work.  It will make for an easy morning because I’m picking up a week of nights to cover another supervisor who needs to be off next week.

Don - I’m glad you made it home safe.  Sounds like you had a great time. How many miles was the trip?

Roy - You could suggest you daughter to elope

Buckey - Glad you took care of Don

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Good evening all,

Washed the Escape today.  The aluminum wheels are nice but if you miss a spot cleaning them, it shows up like a sore thumb.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Could not log on all day?????

Our neighbor Brain came over and helped me take the grill off the new deck. So I scrubbed then pressured washed it and now it is ready for stain. Got to get it done before any more leaves start to fall! Hope it will be dry enough tomorrow to get it done. Poor Brain and his mom had their well pump burn up yesterday so they are out of water. He is getting water from us for the toilets and other stuff but he has to have a new deep well drilled to replace the shallow shared well he had that is now considered illegal because you can't use a single well to feed two different peoples houses or have the old pit well. So there goes 13K.

Well I am done till next year with the new replacement deck. Happy with the way it turned out. Not happy with the help I was promised from the kids,,,,,,,,,GO FIGURE!!!! At least it is in stain and will be good this winter.

Best get!

Hello there,
Glad to see Don made it home safely. Looking forward to a full report.

Roy glad the shower was a success.

Lot's going on A bit of farming, appointments, and projects. The proposed trip to SE PA to race on Saturday was canceled due to rain. Ended up taking Mrs to have an abscess opened. Then house stuff the rest of the day.

Oak Ridge Boys tickets for March 9th went on sale Saturday. All tickets same price, snagged some really good seats.

Cornboil at church yesterday

Today yard work and back to have abscess checked.

Tomorrow we're working on the local farm show. First we've done that in years.

Bed calling

Prayers for those in need.

Hi guys,

I too tried to get on numerous times today with no success.

It sure is good being home!  Arrived Fri afternoon, then Saturday we had a power outage for about 14 hours!  (Due to an arm on a pole breaking, stressing out the cable, and underground cabling. ??)  Anyway pretty much unpacked, and got the El Camino all cleaned up.  Sure got a LOT of compliments, pretty much every time I stopped for gas or meal. (37 gas stops).  Spent most of the time since I've been home organizing pictures.  Do have some electrical work to resolve, light switch doesn't work.

Banks, Happy belated birthday!!  Sure seems like you got the inside lane on tickets!  Good job!

Roy, Glad to hear the shower was a success!  Am sure that time is going to become more of an issue as the wedding approaches.

Some Trip Comments;
Without a doubt this was the best trip I have ever made!!  It is truly awesome  to know I have so many friends all around the country!  And there are a LOT more that I didn't get the chance to see!  All my issues and/or problems were self induced.  The single biggest issue was the GPS and cell phone.  (Kay told me before I left I should get a new one.)  The cell battery would go down quick, and then wouldn't recharge completely.  I didn't help it, I left the display on INSTEAD of turning it off.  Chris told me to turn the display off, if I was travelling a long way, and didn't need a visual.  Also, I was playing Pandora at the same time! I did have it recharging in a 2a recharger.  Anyway, it got so the battery would not charge at all overnight.  So, I got a new phone in Raleigh, but NOW, I have a learning curve issue.  Both with the phone and GPS!  And that has been overwhelming.

One incident; after I left Altoona on my way to Buckeye's, I planned on driving 4/5 hours, getting west of Pittsburg, then get a motel.  I thought Buckeye suggested Stubenberg OH, so I get off the Interstate and didn't see any motel.  So I find a shady parking lot, pull over, and see what I can find using Bookings.com.  While I'm sitting there, with my head looking down at the cell, I hear this woman's voice.  "Sir, Are you alright?"  I was startled that she got that close to me, without me noticing her approach.  I told her I was fine and looking for a motel.  She said, there isn't much close, and IF you find one don't wander away from it very far.  And make sure your car is well locked.  She went on, S..ville is somewhat of a getto, and things get pretty wild here at times.  Also, don't make friends with any local ladies, they are mostly prostitutes and you will definetly take something home you don't want.  I thanked her for the advice, (deciding I want to get out of town ASAP).  She then went on to tell me that she and her 3 children were just coming from football practice, and the daughter (oldest, maybe 7/8), said, "Mommy there is an older man sitting over there in that car with his head down, he may be hurt!"  So she turned around and drove up to my door no more than 12" away.  (The older car had a huge buckle in the hood, surprised she could see out of it.)  So I got back on the hwy and got a room in Cadiz.  Oh, she also offered me her phone number in case I got lost.  I politely refused it and thanked them for stopping.  All of that AND she did NOT ask me for any spare change or anything.

Jim, I find this interesting;
Mapquest indicated the trip would be 6,004 miles.
Upon return the odometer registered 7,119 miles!

Possible explanations for the difference; (1,115 miles)
The wheels on the car are 15" vs 14" OEM  (wouldn't that             make the mileage less rather than more?)
I don't think I spent that much time driving around "lost"             and recovering.
Maybe Mapquest vs GPS system have a significant variance,
Or, I went thru a lot of Detours? (But not that much.)
Or, maybe I didn't record the beginning reading accurately.
  Hmmmm??

Going through the photos have brought to mind a number of little incidents like above.

Back from vacation and all hell has broken loose - geez whaata disaster ..... up to 12 for the day, system upgrades are crap, my Wifi keeps crapping out and shutting off if I walk away from the computer.....

Nice trip Don!!

Dad update - still very sore, the tumor is moving and he gets a stronger radiation dose today at 445....thanks for the prayers, guys!! Hoping this will terminate the tumor for good.

Fireman's Convention Weekend Update - So the weather was great from Wednesday until Friday and it was very windy.  There was a bit of a chill in the air but Saturday rebounded with better temps.
Wednesday we got in late and had dinner with some friends I hadn't seen since 1992.  Thursday was a great day, spent time at the pool and cocktails poolside.  There were many water balloons launched over the motel toward the boardwalk via giant slingshot.  Dinner on the deck and more adult beverages...
Friday we had breakfast on the deck after I registered for convention.   Had a Mike's Black Cherry Lemonade with my eggs and bacon......then off to a local brewery for a quick birthday celebration for my assistant Trustee's betrothed.....the Ironbound Cider was the best.
We had Prime Rib and Baked Potato for dinner at the motel.  A walk on the boardwalk for shopping and Ferris Wheel completed the night of the 13th, full moon over the ocean.
Saturday was a VERY early day was at convention for the annual memorial service and final meeting.  We had cocktails on the deck with BBQ for lunch.  We went to dinner - just Jenni and I - on the water on the intercoastal waterway.  We found out that a meer 5 blocks from us a 3rd and 2nd story deck had collapsed with 21 injured-fortunately no deaths, 2 life flighted out.  We did boardwalk stuff and go carts with the group and then cocktails before sleep.
Sunday morning it rained but by noon, when we got out of the room, it cleared up and was humid and sunny.  Had lunch then another quick shopping trip and a ride on the Ferris Wheel before launching the road runner northward to home.

Laundry was completed and was in bed by 11 Sunday night.

So Jenni and I went to a viewing last night, (my past Chief's wife passed from a heart valve replacement at 86 years young) went as well as expected.  We went back to the firehouse for a bit then a quick visit to the parents and went to eat.  Had to finish up my laundry we both passed out on the bed 'til midnight.  I'll worry about hanging stuff up tonight after work.

I have some uniform committee duties to perform tonight after work then home.  Dad is up for his consult and then the radiation at 445 PM tonight.  We are praying for the best outcome.

Mom is internet viral...still.  The story has been picked up by Time and sources from New Zealand and Australia.....she's going world wide now!!

In case you missed it: https://youtu.be/sDlVXz_e_5g

Yes, that is my Mom!!

Upper 70s today and cooler, breezy right now but not uncomfortable.  Wish we were back at the beach......

I'll check back later!

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Bank,

That is what I would of done but there a feud between them and the other house that uses the well so they want to kill that well I guess to force the other to get their own well. The water from that well sucks as well.  Never get property with a shared anything.

Evening folks!

It did not get to high 90's today. 92 and reasonable pleasant. Might get some rain next couple of days. Hope so, need it.

Had a foot doc appt today, so that took the morning. Worked on some std ga train stuff this afternoon in my office/work space. Rebuilt some roller assemblies, replaced a stripped worm gear, cleaned out grease and relubed. Enjoyed that while watching some old westerns on TCM.

Good Morning from beautiful clear 61°F Southern Ohio,

It is a nice night out, the moon and sky are beautiful, one advantage of nightshift I guess.

I’ve been working on the Red Ranger EGR system to clear a P0401 code, (EGR insufficient flow detected).  After reattaching a vacuum line to the EGR valve, remounting the differential feedback pressure sensor and cleaning a filter on the fuel vapor management valve, the code has cleared and we’ll see if it stays cleared.  The system is in a relearn mode and running smoother the more I drive it.  The good part is that since it is the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder, it is fairly easy to get to stuff.  Next will be replace the front brake pads and replace/repack the wheel bearings.

Starting to see more bucks up on the hill behind the house at the feeder.  There were six one-two year olds at one time up there yesterday.  I think I caught sight of the big one I saw from last year.  It should be a good year for the deer because there is a lot of acorns this year.

Don - Your trip sounds so great.  Being able to drive it with the El Camino just makes it so neat.  With the assumed larger circumference of the 15” wheels you would travel further with each revolution than what would be recorded, so your odometer would read less than actual distance.  I’d trust your trip data from your GPS more than the mapquest estimate.

To find the difference the tire size made, divide the OEM diameter by the tire size used diameter, then subtract from one. For example OEM 28", tire used 31".  28/31 = .90.   1 - .90 = .10 or 10%.

I need to get ready for shift turnover.

May God bless you and your families

Jim

Morning folks!

To hit 92 today. Rain from the tropical depression in the Gulf staying south. May move this way starting tomorrow. We need the rain.

Phish - good deal on the Ranger fix. Sounds complicated to sort out. I have similar issues to sort out on the El Camino. It does run. Waiting for cooler weather to work further on it.

Kev - ya just tire of cruddy neighbors...I have several....

Hello there,

Sub bob.....where are you.

Good day yesterday at the farm show. Many of the old faces are gone. We used to help there a lot before Mrs started working. They've asked us to return for several years and we said maybe after retirement. It was disappointing to see how participation has fallen off in all areas. Farm crops, vegetables and especially home canned goods. Arts and crafts not so much. I chalk it up to the changing times.

Today some hay to bale a cardio doc 6 months check and grandaughter soccer game. Her Jr high team doing well at 4 and 1. Sometimes they're playing short due to injury.

I'm pretty sure a heart cath is in my near future due to how I've been feeling.

Best get on with the day.

Prayers for those in need.

Kev,

Ouch !

Tell Sandra to hang tough. I had a vertebroplasty on the L2/3/4 and it was like nite and day. Went to sleep in misery and woke up with no more back pain. Hopefully her procedure will be as successfull.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  One more day of I-465 construction.  Weather nice.  Watched "my" soccer girls take an early lead then lose to a team helped by the non calls of the officials.  Lot of the girls got hurt due to lax reffing.  Not too sure this is fun anymore.  Maybe I should stick to 5Ks.  Non contact sport.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening folks!

Cooler today due to the tropical depression between here and Houston. Radar seems to show this thing has dissipated quite a bit. Maybe some rain tomorrow.

Spent many hours yesterday and today dealing with an upgrade to Norton PC security. Lotsa hours of on line chat and phone help. 3 of 6 PCs choked on the long download. Norton's software is great, once you get it loaded and actually working...argh...
