MTH Premier PS 2.0 / Brand New Old Stock
Posted by First Timer on Monday, August 14, 2017 9:48 AM

Guys,

I am posting a video and see what you think about it.  After wire tether replaced and B motor replaced, loco is still not working right.  Not only does it stutter at low speed, smoke unit is also malfunctioning.  When I go the the (Right) A's direction, the smoke on the B unit disapears.  When I go to the (Left) B's direction, B unit smokes like crazy.  This is a brand new old stock bought from a reputable MTH dealer.

Here is the link to my video:

Try posting the link again.  The first part of it should look like this...

What comes after the "=" is the locator for the video.  The whole thing has to be right or it won't work.

I tried to light it up for you (I'm curious myself) but didn't have any luck.

So it does.  Beats me what's wrong, maybe the on-board batteries need replacing?  If it's PS-2 it's been around for a while.

I assume it is a powered AA with a dummy B unit. If so pull out the non-powered B, connect the powered AA units together and try a factory reset. Your video shows you operating in DCS so it is apparent you have it.

Also it would be a good idea to check the drive wheels as well as the pick-up  rollers for cleanliness (oil/corrosion/etc). Is your track good and clean ? And if you haven't done so yet shutoff the smoke and let it set running to fully charge the battery, aterwards when power is removed the sounds should continue for about 7 to 10 seconds. If not the battery is more than likely bad.  Be sure that your tether is properly aligned and completely connected.

Hopefully it will start operating correctly, w/o having to go to the shop.

Hi Doug,

Sorry for the late response, anyway, We already replaced the motor and the wire tether.  Cleaned the pick-up rollers and it's still doing the same thing.  Battery was also changed to a BCR.  I think it is a board defect.  Clean my track every 2 weeks.  All other locos works fine.

Firelock,

It currently has a BCR installed in it.
