Morning all!

Raining here. The skies opened up last night while we were at our nephews HS grad ceremony. Learned later that some areas got up to 5" in 45 min. It broke when we left the arena. The family went to a nice celebratory dinner at a good Italian place. Skies opened up agin while inside, then broke again for the drive home. All good!

Dennis - yep. Eating heart healthy is very difficult. Hate it but try to adhere to the regimen as best possible. Italian is heart healthy right?

SJ - Chief also got his clothes washed early this month!

Chief - take care of yourself! Get better soon!

Evenin' boys.  Clear and 72, on a moonlit night in the Potomac Highlands.  My "grooming" continued today, learning the turntable, emergency brake system, coupler placement, etc.  Sometimes I feel like I should be paying them for letting me work there.  It's been that enjoyable.  Talked to Fifepup a little while ago.  He's doing fine, but still not getting the hours he needs at the marina.  He sounded good just the same.

Good evening from warm beautiful 86°F Southern Ohio,

A lot has been going on around here.  Friday we bought the John Deere X330.  IT is really a nice mower.  Plenty of power cuts great and maneuvers great.  The baby rabbits all died Thursday night due to a freak unseasonably cold spell after a very hot day and the mothers moved out all the fur and bedding because it was so warm during the day.  No meat pen rabbits for the fair.

We've been moving boxes to the new house and putting stuff away.  I started putting in the gas line for the dryer and re-doing the gas line for the stove.  We put all the screens in the windows as the previous owners never used them.  There are two bedrooms to paint and a couple of ceiling fans to install.

Movers are going to come next Friday and I took next week off to get the things to-dos done.

Fife – Sounds like you're happy!

May God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

Warm day.  Did some yard work and will probably have to mow tomorrow if weather permits.  Got those 3 steel pipes that have been up in the barn since we moved in down to the ground.  Will take them next Saturday AM with other metal junk and get some salvage money for them.  Watched 1st Detroit race today.  Munoz got 14th for AJ and Daly had a good run going until engine quit.  MR and Trains came today.  Wife and I played a variety of games tonight.  It was nice.  Stur-fish, sorry to hear about the rabbits.  If I ever catch any in the yard, I will ship them your way.....   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello all

Quiet weekend on the mountain.

JimS - too bad about the rabbits.

Chief - you are a good sport!

Reading an interesting book on the Flxible Company. We have two of their 'new look' transit buses in the collection. They also had partnerships w/ Twin Coach and agreed to buy them out in 1953. The book has a fair bit of info about Twin Coach too. It turns out I now have a significant connection to Buffalo, NY. The '48 Twin Coach I am buying to eventually build into my own motorhome was built in Cheekawanda and all Corvair engines were made in Tonowanda. Both suburbs of Buffalo. If I ever do use the bus to travel I should tow one of the Corvairs back to visit:) Maybe take them to Niagra Falls...? Could be the closest thing to a 'honeymoon' I ever have:)

Took Freightliner truck to deliver.  You believe that.  Got some ocean front propery in AZ I will sell you.

Thanks guys for the good wishes.  Hit the local Italian restaurant.  They over feed you.  Plop plop fizz fizz.

Now to relax and watch TV.

OH, this software stinks.  To quote, I do a reply with quote.  Can't get curser to appear so I can type.  I highlight, copy, go out of that screen, open new post and paste.  Everytime. Angry

Have a great week.

We took a trip to Michigan over Memorial Day.  Nice relaxing time just putzing around our property there for a few days.

I might be a feature on you tube - on Sunday, I tried out the sail rig for our 18'  Grumman canoe.  I figured out how it went together, but was not too sucessful getting it to work.  At least I didn't tip it over - came close a couple of times.  Turns out that I was providing entertainment for my wife's cousins.  Yes, they took video.

The only train news I've got is that a new second hand store opened in town recently.  We discovered that the owner is trying to carry used train things.  I picked up a 164 log shed for not too bad a price.  Going to have to sop there once a month or so.

Still working on the G gage layout in the freight house at the KATY museum.  Should have it running later this month.

About all for now.

Good Evening from beautiful Sunny 74°F Southern Ohio,

Thanks guys for the words for the rabbits.  The kids took it all real well.  I guess one of benefits of 4-H is the kids understand there are pets and there are livestock and death is part of raising animals.

I assisted at the first Sunday Mass of a good friend we've know all his life who was ordained to the priesthood last week.  Fantastic service.  His mom and dad had their wedding rings made into the chalice they gave him for an ordination gift.  Their rings were on the tapered part of the stem.  It was beautiful from a symbolic as well from a craftsmanship standpoint.

We got one of the bedrooms painted.  The oldest girl (14) helped me as it was her room.  She did a very good job.

Got to go

Good night and may God bless

Good evening all,

Mowed yard.  Weather warm.  Watched 2nd Detroit race.  Daly almost had a top 10 but lost it on the late restart.  Still finished 12th and Munoz was 11th.  Getting closer to the sharp end of the finish positions.  Watched the Honda train tonight.  57 cars headed by 2 engines.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning,

64 heading to 80 with no rain in the forecast this week. Guess I will put the water tank on the gator for Sandra.

Glad you had a good birthday Chief! Yes

Good NASCAR race yesterday. Not often anymore I am happy with an outcome but when you start at the back and finish in the front, your just plain good!

Jim, 4-H is a good way for them to learn.

Evening gang!

Still raining but it is supposed to start moving out tomorrow.

Have finally gotten into a cleanup of a room and the garage littered with various train projects. Meant to get it done a couple of months ago. Should be done by Friday.

Also enjoyed the NASCAR race yesterday although it was another green-white-checkered flag finish. Prefer a race vs a drag race.

Greetings from Iowa!!  It's been a long while since I've posted even though I've tried several times it just wouldn't work.

Both of us are fully retired now and have been blessed to take some wonderful trips that we always dreamt of and that has been awesome. We still have the trains but about the only time we run them is when the grandkids are here.  We still enjoy the hobby and would love to build one more time but I don't think that's going to happen, just can't bring myself to tear this one down.

I'm still riding with the Patriot Guard Riders but last week I put the bike up for sale as I only rode 1,000 miles last year and not much more than that the year before.  I'll still participate at military events but in a car for the future.  I have continuing problems with my right eye and my depth perception has taken a hit, ugh.

My best to everyone, hopefully this will post.

Jon

Wow !

Jon, Glad to hear your doing well!  We have done a little traveling, not much though.  Good to hear from you.

The Dover race was really good, would like to have seen Larsen win, but there wasn't a loser on the track.  It was exciting, IMO.

Tearing up more of the train room for the redesign, hope I get it all back together.

Take care all, and be safe!

Good morning,

61 heading to 75 here. Wonder if the plumber will show or not. Don't really care either way. A hen turkey is cleaning up under the bird feeder. Grass is already in summer stunt.

Good to hear from you Jon!!!

I know what you are talking about on selling the bike. I only have put less than 100 miles on mine the last two years and have spent $145.00 on INS. Just can't bring myself to sell it.

Aloha from a sunny and cool Chicago. Good to  hear from Jon! Jim, congratulations on your rabbits - I raised them when I was young. Had a big hutch in the backyard. Congrats on the new house too. 8n, I tried the sail rig on a rented Grumman canoe once - I absolutely flew across the lake. It was hard to manage in anything about 4-5 kts. Roy, thanks for the grill advice. I have successfully make kabobs and a pork roast using indirect heat - and the Crisco grill spray. Nothing burnt yet! The Medicare conversation is interesting. It will probably be gone by the time I qualify for it. Happy belated bday to the Chief!

Howdy all.  Back from quarterly Dr.  Came home to backhoe digging up trees and shrubs.  Beginning of Wife's addition on the back of the house [which is already too large].  Huh?  Taking off brick and window out along dinning room wall.  Board up windows.  Eventually will be an arch walk through to addition.  Tearing off utility room.  No washer and dryer for a few months.  Going to be a mess for months.:   94 and 42% humidity.  Addition has been engineered well.  We didn't use a certain engineer from Ohio. Surprise

Wow, John is here.  Think of you everytime we have a veterans' thing here.  God bless you and your group.  Got a buddy and his wife who do the same.

Later.

Evenin' boys.  Partly sunny & 70 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Wifey and I took a little trip to Oakland today.  I like Englanders; she likes the Thomas Kincaid store.  Both came home with a little somethin' somethin'.  My little nephew is coming to WV tonight, so we might have to get the boy a train ride this week.

Only one person can get me to post in John Deere green.  Guess who?

Belated happy birthday to da ChiefHappy B-Day

Don Baker, saw your buddy Bob at the train meet Sunday.  I bought a Lionel signal bridge that I needed like new for $15.  Got some rubber tires from the parts guy for large steam engine.  They are probably Lionel so I don't know if they work on MTH or not.  They were a buck fifty each so I just bought one pair to try.
