I have several AF #761 semaphores to wire into my layout. Has anyone used a Lionel #153IR controller with an AF #761 semaphore? If so, what are the wiring connections? (I believe the #761 has five (5) wires, but the #153IR has three (3) wire inputs.) Is there another (better) way? My layout has permanently installed track, so I'm not sure that the Lionel 153/154-type contactors are a viable solution.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/ideas.
The AF #761 used insulated sections to operate. You will need to duplicate them in 3 rail for the semaphore to operate properly. See the 1956 AF instruction book, pages 26-27 for the wiring diagram.

Mark, the 761 is a versatile device and you did not say what function you wanted it to perform. The wiring diagram in the linked manual should be self explanatory. If you just want to manually stop and start a train from a control panel Gilbert made a 2 button controller for that purpose. If you want to use it to allow automatic running of two trains on a single loop of track the diagram in the manual shows that. In place of the Gilbert track pressure actuators any sensor with normally open/momentary close dry contacts can be used. I am not familiar with the 153IR. If the contacts are momentary closure and not connected to either power or ground inside the actuator it will work.
