Just get Sir Topham Hatt to jerk a knot in his tail and keep him on the rails.

Good to see it's all worked out.

Sir James I,

Kev was having a problem with Thomas derailing on an O-27 profile (brown tie) 42" Diameter Curved Track.

The Thomas the Tank Engine sets come with O-36 FasTrack curve sections.

Thomas is designed to negotiate O-27 curves, but he was derailing on O-42 curves.

Given those technical (sorry Kev) details, it seems strange that you would say:

sir james I

Keep in mind that Thomas was designed and came with Fastrac which has a wider curve.

But thank you for offering that bit of wisdom. FasTrack does have a different profile than tubular track, so I appreciate your input. Since you bring it up, I wonder... do wheels designed for FasTrack have different profile than wheels for tubular track?

I was wondering the same thing thinking that fastrack operating track is basically molded in so it doesn't affect the engine and those small engines as mention by others seem to be problem-matic of different issues with track I believe I read someone said

I do not believe that there are any wheels that are designed specifically for Fastrack. All trains are designed to run on any track. I do not think that manufacturers would design trains to run on only a certain track type.

Thanks for the replies guys,

For the thread that won't die.

Just to show you how out of the hobby I have been,,,,When did Lionel start with FASTRACK??? My first Thomas engine is a 1997 production and nothing like the 2011 production.  I see nothing but FASTRACK listed in my latest  Lionel 2014 Signature Edition But am sure they were still selling O27 profile  track in 1997 because it is in my 2012 catalog.

I know Doug only runs O27 and he has been running the Thomas series trains forever.

Just asking???  Tongue Tied

According to this site, Fastrack was introduced in 2003.
