3462 & 3472 Milk Car Colors.

Can anyone tell me if the car color listed as cream & eggshell are the same.I know that white is just that but I can not tell from the listings if one person call the cae eggshell & another person calls it cream. Thanks Tom

Tom,
Colors are a real subjective thing. I'll do the best I can.

The early 3462 was painted a glossy color. To my eye, it rather resembles the color of condensed milk, white, but with a little tint to it (at least the two I have had did). The later 3462 was painted a non-glossy while. A mint example is as pure white as a driven snow, cream (as in the dairy product).

That same color was used on the earliest 3472. Then they began making the 3472 with unpainted white plastic shells. These shells were no where near as pure of a white as the painted shells used just prior to them.

Colors are VERY hard to describe with many synonymous words, each of which can have different meanings to different people.

There are essentially three versions of the 3462. The earliest 3462 cars were painted either pure white or creme colored. Around 1949 the cars were unpainted white plastic. The description as off white, eggshell, or creme refers to the same non pure white color.
