#2046, 2056 Boiler graphic break down no where to be found!

OK Lionel experts out there HELP!

I have three different sevice manuals for Lionel Post War trains. Not one of them has the #2046, #2056 exploded view of the complete graphic break down of the boiler, wheels, related wheel assembly and their related external parts.

I bought a #2046 engine and tender in pretty good shape knowing the front four wheel guide assemly was missing. I need to replace that part. I thought I would go to one of my three Lionel services manuals look up the engine and its respective exploded view, see what the part looked like and what the part number was. Ha, there is no, none, ziltcho visual reference any where to be found for the #2046 and the #2056 which I think are are the identical boilers. 

1. Is there any complete exploded graphic break down view of the #2046 and #2056 to be found any where? Please let me know. Lionel must have made one at some point for thier repair service centers. 

2. How do I determine what the exact right part is for this #2046? Were there numerous production types for the 2046?  

3. How do you select a parts dealer to know they have top quality parts and are on the up and up?

4. Are there any brand new unused old original authentic Lionel parts still around to be purchased? How can you identify them authentically and know you are not being taken?

AS mentioned in your first reply, the website to go to is Olsens Toy Train Parts.  One unique feature on his website, is a "Library" section.  He has graciously provided pages from Original Lionel repair manuals from Postwar. 

     Log onto Olsen's website, and scroll to bottom of page.  At the bottom of page to the right, there is option for "Library".  Click on that link, which will bring you to page that says "enter library", and click on that link.  That will bring you to a page which lists a multitude of options, but the first line is "LOCOMOTIVES", which is what you will click on next.  Scroll down to 2046 loco, and it will bring up exploded views of everything you need to identify what parts you need.  Each pane will have to be brought up separately, to analyze what you want (PDF FORMAT), which opens separately for each page.  Don't bother looking at the 2056 option, as it is only a repeat list of part numbers, and no pictures.  The 646,2046, & 2056 all used the same casting, but each had different options, of Magnatraction, etc.

     I forgot to add choices for dealers for parts.  You will probably get other replies, but there are 4 reputable parts dealers that many on this forum have used:

     I would say they are the 4 top ones, but I know there are quite a few more.  You can visit each site, once you have the part #'s you are looking for.  From there, you can compare prices, to make your decision.  I have never seen anything negative about any of these 4 parts dealers..The choice is up to you, as to which dealer you choose.  In some cases, one dealer may not have the part, where another may still have that part in stock.  Shop around, and good luck.

     Interestingly, I have a 2056/2046w combo that I had returned to me after 45+ years, and I need a few screws and linkage for one side, to restore it back to original.  Will get to that maybe next month, after restoring a 2020 that I am presently working on.
