Mystery Semaphores: Can you identify them?
Posted by M. Mitchell Marmel on Saturday, December 28, 2013 4:57 PM

Got these as a gift awhile back.  They appear to be standard gauge sized, but other than that, I got no clue.  Anybody have any idea?

Thanks!

Mitch,

You have two American Flyer 208 Semaphores from c. 1916-17.  They are identifiable as c. 1916-17 versions due to their cast iron bases and the fish-tail type lower semaphore arms, which appear in the artwork of the 1916 and 1917 American Flyer catalogs.

Wowsers!  Sweet.  Thanks!  Well, they definitely rank as the oldest bits of gear in my collection, then...  ^.^
