Still finding my way through this great hobby. I have a 6ft x 12 ft layout in the basement that I am working on. I purchased three "sets" complete with fasttrack and transformers for my son. I only have a mainline in the form of a continuous oval on the platform, and it spans the entire track. I have one set of wires connected to the track at this time. I have other pieces of fasttrack with the wires attached to power up. My question is, can I connect two power sources to the same track to boost the power on the track? I would have the connections on oppostie ends of the track. Looking for feedback on this. Thanks again...
If your trains slow down at the far end of the track, just connect the wires at the far end to the same transformer. This will distribute the power evenly. Hooking more transformers at various points will be difficult in synchronizing their outputs, ie. three throttles to manipulate at the same time. If you need more power, the only way is to get a larger capacity transformer. Chances are that with your layout, 2 or 3 feeder wires at various points will be sufficient, and you will only need 1 transformer. You can use the other transformers for accessories.
