Lionel tinplate set original paint?

I bought an old standard gauge set from ebay. It's a 10E with three passenger cars in the peacock color scheme. The seller claimed it was all original paint and parts except for a few things he replaced on it (he listed everything he fixed). I received the set, it's beautiful and the paint looked very nice. Then I looked closer. The passenger cars all seem to have overspray on them. You can even see little smudges in the paint. Are these characteristics of how they were painted way back when, or is this a major warning sign of a poor restoration. The cars all appear to have the original rubber stamped lettering on the paint (which makes me think maybe it wasn't restored). They are clearly not decals. The lubrication stickers are also on the bottoms of the cars. So over all what do you guys think? Is the overspray something to worry about? Do you think the paint is original? I would like to somehow post pictures but frankly I have no idea how, I'm new to the forum and I'm posting from my iPhone. Anyway, I appreciate any insight you can give!

Original early prewar Lionel paint almost always has runs in it, which is difficult to duplicate, so I wouldn't doubt that the set is in it's original paint.
