Official Lionel Service Manual?
Posted by tjl0824 on Monday, August 27, 2012 5:41 PM

I was reading that the Stokley Van Camps boxcar made in the postwar era is numbered 6050-150 according to the "Lionel Service Manual". This is not the first time I have seen this, as most guides will list un-numbered cars and say that they have a Lionel Service Manual number of ...(the number). So what is the Lionel Service Manual they refer to? I have the Greenberg's one, and it has locomotives, operating cars, accesories, etc. , but not general freight cars.

The full version of the Lionel Service Manual consists of more than what is in the "condensed" repair manual. The 6050-150 is indeed in the "full" version, as can be seen here.

Hi Trevor,

If you are interested in a very thorough Lionel Postwar Service Manual that is always available (because it resides on a CD that will be in your possession) please check out the Officially Licensed Lionel Postwar Service Manual Digital Archive 1945 - 1969 which my company (HSL) has developed and licenses.  This digital version is comparable to Greenberg's four volume set that regular sells on eBay for $200 - $400.

Full information is available from our web-site (www.hslinc.com).

Please contact me if I can provide any additional information.
