Ahem.  My favorite type of locomotive is one that runs both forward and backward.  HTH.

traindaddy1 - You are correct, I did say type.

OK, I missed that. My favorite type is electrics, mainly from the 20s & 30s using catenaries. This includes  boxcabs, tunnel rats etc.

Electrics: P1a in Cleveland Union Terminal high voltage catenary configuration and brunswick green GG-1's.

Steam Freight engines: Lima Berkshires in Nickel Plate Road livery.

Steam Passenger loco: Dreyfuss Hudson in early 20th Century Limited gray.

Diesel:  F40PH Amtrak Phase 1, F3's and early Geeps.

These are my favorites too along with all Fand E locomotives.  I love the war bonnet paint schemes and they make a smoother design look even smother.

Mine is probably my vintage Lionel Santa Fe f-3 that I inherited.
