Erratic blinking light. Dash 8-40C
Posted by KRM on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 3:49 PM

I have a Dash   8-40C  Norfolk Southern 6-18207 numbered 8689 that took a leap off the train table and went headfirst into the basement floor. After repairing the broken off step assembly on the front truck and re-working the front railing it seems to work fine. I have noticed that when moving slowly the blinking light on the top of the engine has a nice steady blink but when I speed up and increase the power to it the light blinks very fast and erratic. Is this normal for these? This is my only modern era engine so I have nothing to compare it to. i can't say if it did this before it crashed or not. I may not of noticed.

Thanks guys,

Kev.

I have an early TMCC GP9 with the flashing beacon on the roof and it has a steady flash.  The only thing I can think of to fix your problem is a factory reset.

Here are the codes for the reset.

I think you want code 5 for your problem.
