There has been a lot of passenger train traiffic here on the Blueboard Central Division of American Flyer Lines this past week. At least one of the passenger trains I've never seen up here in our neck of the woods. I'm not entirely sure why there have been so many extras. It may have something to do with all of those folks traveling to the state capital in Madison. I have had my trusty Kodak Brownie at my side most days, so I caught a few of the trains on their way out of town.

This was my layout a few years ago. About 1950 or 1951. I remember when I got the cardboard houses one Christmas. The whole family put them together. My project was the one on the left. The picket fences were made from a roll of HO ties.
This year (2011) I started adding scenery to my present layout. I see Lichen Moss trees, and sawdust grass. I have not been able to duplicate the grass. Maybe the trick was using hardwood sawdust. My latest attempts come out clumpy.
I still use those old streetlamps.
This old engine still runs after 60 years. Not quite as shiny though.

Great pictures everyone. I hope to have some good stuff to share in the weeks to come.
Tonight I am excited to post this, a screen shot of my current project BlueBoxTrains.com. It's finally ready to share. If you love Industrial Rail cars as I do, this site is going to be on your favorites list for sure! Take a look and let me know what you think. blueboxtrains.com
I promise to use my trains for good, not evil.

Very nice website Akron! It's easy to navigate, looks great, and has a wealth of info on it.
I've only got 1 Industrial Rail car ( a NYC Pacemaker boxcar), and didn't know they offered some of their cars in multiple road numbers. I think I'll be looking for them in the future now.
Thanks for making that website. I've already bookmarked it.

Neat project, very informative. I have a few of those guys, for the price at the time, the best deal in electric trains.
One of my favorite MPC era engines.
This is the first photo that I meant to post.
Bob.M,
Your pictures are fantastic! Don't often get to see photos (especially, good clear ones) of vintage layouts like that. I acquire most of my stuff used (sometimes really well used) and its neat to see a picture of it in action, back when it was new, glossy and perfect. What a great layout, full of Lionel pieces: JLC would have been proud!
As usual great photos !
Finally able to open Shutterfly, must have been on my end, after resetting modem and deleting some files all is well.
Friday at the museum we had a wye totally die on the upper level which left that reverse loop in-operative. Since this left half of one upper level open I decided I'd have some fun. Ran my MTH AT&SF 4-6-0 up-n-down the transition line between the lower level & the upper level. It was funny watching the visitors trying to figure out where and how it would show up.
Heading down the transition to the lower level hauling a load of logs.
Exiting on the lower level.

SantaFe158 That NYC GP-9 looks so familar did you convert your couplers to coil. I did to mine and it was real easy. I love mine. Along with my NYC alco PA-1. nice photos guys
Don't know if you have a pitcural diagram but heres what I got from lionel website http://www.lionel.com/media/servicedocuments/36610-8563-001Complete.pdf
everytime I get a new Lionel engine ( to me) I go to there website and see if they have it as they don't all of them but about 95% they do and I down load it onto my computer in case some time in the future they decide to delete it from there files. I need to convert a PRR set of GP-9's over to TMCC think they will be my next project.Put coil couplers on both add lights to dummy and TMCC and railsound to the power unit. My NYC Alco I have added sound and coil couplers to it as it only had signal sounds ( horn/bell) now it has engine sound, coil couplers sound, and blow off sound along with bell and horn.
