225E locomotive and freight cars
Posted by rlhmiami on Saturday, February 26, 2011 2:36 PM

I have a 225E engine with a 2225w tender.  I believe I read that this tender was designed to fit freight cars and not passengers cars.  That was another tender.  Does anyone know what series freight cars were designed for the 2225w tender, and/or what series freight cars will fit the 2225w's box coupling height?

The 225E (New Haven profile) along with the 265E (Commodore Vanderbuilt) and 238E (Pennsy Torpedo) all used the 2225W "Waffle Top" tin tender.

They were cataloged in 1938 with #2600, 2601, and 2602 red passenger cars.  Also with #2655 (box car), 2654 (oil car), 2620 (floodlight car),3659 (remote dump car), 2657 (caboose).  Also appropriate but not cataloged with the 225E was #2652 (gondola) and 2660 (crane car)

In 1939 the 2225W tender was replaced with the 2235W Die-Cast tender.
