Wiring diagram needed for a American Flyer Talking Mystic Station
Posted by butleryard on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 4:01 PM

I am rewiring a American Flyer Talking Mystic Station. Any one help on where the wires go and how this thing works. There are 4 contacts where the wires go. Black to chassis ground. Then you have red, yellow and green wires. I have the button, the record and speaker w/ needle.

How does this thing work and actually do? Light on all the time?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Butleryard,

American Flyer Instruction Book is listed as a link on my web site under Instructions, Suggestions, Helpful Hints and Tips / Resources. I hope this is what your looking for on page 47. Its a pdf file so you can print it out the whole book for your personnel reference.

Have a good evening,

The wayit works is really neat.  The light stays on.  When you start the cycle by pushing the button you lose the base connection via the white wire and the train stops in a section of track that you have isolated the base rail.  This is usually in front of the station.  After te record has gone through it's cycle, all aboard American Flyer etc.  the base rail is de-isolated and the train starts.  IF you don't want to tie the station into the rails it works OK too.  It just won't stop and start the train.

Thanks for the info. Sure helps on how the wires are hooked up on the outside but would like to know how the wires are connected up on the inside. Had no idea about the white wire controlling the insulated track section.

I’m glad that I could help.Big Smile

You may want to do what I did with my 755 Mystic Talking Station. I isolated talking Station on the outside of my main line with turnouts. Then just connect the green and yellow wires.  As long as you hold down the button the recording “record” will play.

When its done playing it will reset, then release the button.

I also put digital sound in my 799 Talking Station. You can go to Youtube to watch the video.

Now I need help with my turntable...anybody?Hmm
