Thanks, Rob. How did you get the image to be so much bigger?
There have been predictions of snow flurries almost every day for the past week. A few puffs of white stuff have been seen, but last night the weather predictions were correct. Parts of the BlueBoard Central were "blanketed" with snow.
It looks like the town elders can get to work on preparations for Christmas and the Winter Carnival.

Nice looking cars on the flatbeds. Would you happen to know the manufacturer?
Hector: The flat cars with the '49 Mercs are Atlas Industrial Rail.
Employees of the Department of Public Works from town and some employees from the Maintenance of Way Department of American Flyer Lines have been busy since the most recent blanketing of snow. The first thing on their agenda was to get the skating pond cleared at the edge of town in preparation for the holidays.
Some folks have already been out on the ice. Please excuse the blury photo. My hands were shaking as I took the photos. I forgot to take my gloves along.
Christmas 1976, when I got my Lionel that got me into trains.
Christmas Eve 1999. Temporarily set up the Lionel while I was staying at my Mom and Dad's while getting back on my feet after being laid off from work.
Christmas 2002. Had the Lionel running around the perimeter of my living room and adjusted the track to run in front of the tree.
Christmas 2003. Had more Lionel trains added to my collection from my mom's late uncle's estate. Rerouted the track to go into the corner behind the tree, and then make a turn to come out alongside the nativity scene.
Christmas 2005
Since getting cats in 2007, I moved the Lionel to a smaller loop of track in my home office upstairs, which is also where I put the tree in December.

Don't sell yourself short, those photos are truly symbolic of what Christmas looked like to a bunch of "trainheads" in years gone-by.

Black Diamond: The Grinch grabbed the unsupported camera to get another angle. A photographer he is not. By the way that camera is my mini key chain camera that was real popular on another forum.

On the other hand, I am starting to feel a tad guilt because of the simplicity of my single Christmas oval and using the wifes treasured lighted village pieces and figures as the props. But I have an excuse for not doing something more elaborate. My wife is the landlord of the entire space under our tree, and I am a lowly tenant. I face eviction if I push things too far. But I have planted a seed in her head by showing her your pictures which reflect how other women allow a bit more artistic license under the tree.

Rob thank you so much! I've been using forums for as long as I can remember but when I hit "Preview" it didnt show the image just the code so I thought I was doing it wrong.
Finally got around to shooting some photos of this year's Christmas layout.
Was not able to use the regular spot for the normally Thomas layout now Christmas, unable to negotiate land rights. Consequently had to use the short tree instead of the 7 footer.
Tall load, will require clearance verification on the club layout in the morning.

Great pics all. Heres what I've been up to. its not much but its for the son of a co-worker who is a single mom. Last year I sold her a nascar train set NIB for her son well this year I asked her to let me have the train set for a little bit so I could lube and check it out. well this is what her son is getting back Christmas morning ( by the way he just turned 7 so he did get it early but she watches him closely and he loves this train well now he will really like it I hope.)
Don't have any kids so this is fun to me not the greatest but it gives him something to go with left the one corner open so he can add buildings or what ever there. I'm also giving him a set of RR signs I have. By the way the sign is a pic I cut to size that was part of some sample train Christmas cards I got in one year. Its Santa adjusting his glasses as he looks at an train engine.

Winter weather is exerting itself today. Some parts of the area are predicted to get 12 to 16 inches. Its a good thing the town elders got started on the Christmas decorating before this stuff hit.
The enclosure for the Winter Carnival was constructed earlier this week, before the storms hit. We have three rivers that converge here in town so there is plenty of ice available for the ice walls and entrance. Crews have been out on the rivers cutting blocks of ice for over a week. One of the main entrances went up first.
Construction went pretty quickly
I have pictures but the video is better. No layout this year.
