Hello out there, "Top Bix" here; I'm getting ready to begin the procedure described in the Lionel Service book LOC-200 page 1 (9-61), "staking a loose bottom bearing plate" on the "subject" motor side plate of a USMC 212 I just picked up at a swap meet. (The worm gear and arm shaft are out of alignment due to excess play in the bearing plate). I always like to converse with anyone who has accomplished something prior to my first attempt at it. My concern is the placement of the stake punch into the frame with respect to the plastic tabs of the bearing support; (are the stakes placed top, bottom, forward or aft, or any combination of the four). And also, how many stakes does the trick. This seems to be a fairly irreversible procedure with possible destruction if not done right. Anybody out there that has some "Lessons Learned" and is willing to share them would be greatly appreciated.
